Academic Year
The academic year is divided into two segments called "semesters". International students
are required to be on campus approximately two weeks prior to the beginning of a semester.
Orientation, advising and registration for classes precedes the beginning of each
semester. The Fall semester usually begins the middle of August and is completed the
end of December. The Spring semester usually begins the middle of January and is completed
the end of May. A summer session if offered from early June through late July.
Deadline for International Students:
Fall Semester (August-December)
Deadline out of the country: June 15
Deadline in the USA: July 15
Spring Semester (January-May)
Deadline out of country: November 1
Deadline in the USA: December 10
TOEFL SCORE:
The applicant must be able to read, speak, and write English sufficiently well to
pursue a full-time program of study. Because it is necessary for you to have the ability
to use and understand English as well as native American students, you must verify
your proficiency through examination. An International Test of English as a Second
Language (TOEFL) is required of all international applicants whose native language
is not English. The TOEFL is administered in most countries by the Educational Testing
Service. Please have your official TOEFL results sent directly to the Office of Admissions
at Porterville College.
