Sustainability
As a school community, we are committed to meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
The concept of
sustainability
is composed of three pillars: economic, environmental, and social - also known informally as profits, planet, and people.
Working with young people we already have an opportunity to educate and inform students about their environment but we also have a responsibility to set an example and show how, through simple actions, each individual, each house, each company, through a little thought and determination, can make a difference to the local environment. The small changes made locally can then help to make a massive change globally.
Saint Francis Xavier School was the first secondary school in North Yorkshire to be awarded the green flag after taking steps to reduce waste and recycle.
Preloved uniform
We have regular preloved uniform events throughout the year and second-hand uniform is available on request.
We cannot run these events without the support of our school community. Donations are always welcomed. As part of their services to SVP, members of the group sort and wash uniform when it is sent to school.
Details of our next pre-loved event will be shared shortly.
