Diversity, equity and inclusion at Brooke
Our commitment to animal welfare is deeply intertwined with our dedication to fostering a diverse and inclusive community. We believe that our mission to protect and advocate for working animals worldwide is strengthened by embracing the diverse backgrounds, perspectives and talents of our supporters, staff, volunteers and partners. We respect the inherent dignity and worth of every individual and are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and heard. We welcome and celebrate diversity in all its forms.
Our commitment to anti-racism
We recognise that racism and discrimination affect too many people around the world. We are committed to fighting against racism and discrimination in all its forms, both internally and externally. We condemn any acts of racism, bigotry or intolerance that target or harm any individual or group. We stand in solidarity with those who are oppressed, marginalised or discriminated against because of their race or ethnicity. We are not only committed to words, but also to actions. We have developed and implemented policies and practices to ensure that our organisation is diverse, inclusive and respectful.
These include:
• A zero-tolerance policy for any form of racism, discrimination or harassment.
• Raising awareness, challenging biases and fostering a culture of respect and empathy.
• A recruitment and retention approach that seeks to attract and retain diverse and qualified staff, and to ensure that our staff reflect the diversity of the communities we serve.
• A
global safeguarding policy
which is linked to our
Code of Conduct
and our bullying and harassment policy.
Modern slavery statement
At Brooke we have a commitment to preventing and addressing any form of modern slavery, including human trafficking, forced labour or debt bondage in our operations and supply chains. Any staff member who is aware of or suspects any instance of modern slavery must report it immediately. We will always strive to ensure that we comply with all relevant laws and standards, and that we work only with suppliers who share our values and principles.
