Thanks, but I just read further into the issue you linked and I saw that in 25.08 KDE will be removing the hard dependency on Phonon for Dolphin and Gwenview, which means I will no longer need this package at all :)

Thanks for the reply. Yup, that's exactly what I suspected. Thankfully, I never use the video preview functionality in either Dolphin or Gwenview (which crashes as well) so I can still use this for the time being without having to install VLC and its dependencies, until the libvlc split is complete.

I guess they are now abandoned and dropped back to the AUR? Can I know the reason for it?

Hey, what's going on with this package and its Qt5 equivalent? I found deletion requests from back in April for the original AUR packages which suggest that they were both adopted into [extra], so I guess they are now abandoned and dropped back to the AUR? Can I know the reason for it? If I had to guess I'd say it's because they're buggy in some situations and upstream is not really active anymore, but I'd like to be sure that there's no other subtle quirks with them, because they're still very convenient for my use case.
