REPORTS
Code for Africa (CfA)
, in partnership with the
European Partnership for Democracy (EPD)
, is offering fellowships to four (4) Female African Wikipedians under the African Wikipedian Alliance (AWA) EmpowerHer 2026 International Women's Day campaign/Edit-a-thon.
These fellowships will support experienced Wikimedians in closing the gender gap and increasing the visibility of African women on Wikipedia and Wikidata. The focus regions include Sahel, neighbouring West Africa, and the Horn of Africa, remain significantly underrepresented on Wikimedia platforms.
Fellows will bridge content gaps and highlight women’s achievements across various sectors, while addressing systemic barriers to their representation in Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Ethiopia, Guinea, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, and Togo.
As part of CfA’s broader initiative to promote gender equity and enhance digital representation, Fellows will serve as change-makers by organising edit-a-thons, facilitating technical training, and building partnerships with organisations dedicated to women’s empowerment and knowledge equity.
