Welcome to our lab's Wiki!
We are a dynamic interdisciplinary research group at Stony Brook University, NY.
[1]
We are affiliated with the Laufer Center for Physical and Quantitative Biology
[2]
and the Biomedical Engineering Department
[3]
We develop and use synthetic gene circuits as new research tools in the fields of evolution, development, and cancer.
Mammalian synthetic biology showed us new ways to understand and address outstanding problems in cancer biology. We differ from the currently dominating synthetic biology trend to engineer therapeutic (immune and bacterial) cells to treat cancer. Instead, we engineer cancer cells to control, understand and treat them by novel, better therapies.
Here is a description of the research we do in layman's terms:

We are building gene circuits to control cancer, see the Finding Genius Podcast:

and Investiture as Henry Laufer Endowed Professor at Stony Brook University:
[7]
We are proud to be equipped with FluidFM technology
[8]
. We use a FluidFM OMNIUM to manipulate and investigate live single cells
