Clinical Exercise Programs
The MUSC Wellness Center's Clinical Exercise Department develops and implements exercise programs specific to the needs of various clinical populations. The programs are designed to maintain and continue to build on improving strength and stamina through science backed exercise modalities and go beyond the parameters of typical fitness classes by including more supportive aspects such as nutrition counseling and other educational resources. The Clinical Exercise Department collaborates with MUSC healthcare providers to ensure the best and safest exercise protocols are followed for all participants.

Breast Cancer Survivors' Fit Club
The MUSC Wellness Center partners with the Hollings Cancer Center to provide a 10-week breast cancer survivor wellness program. Fit Club focuses on improving cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength, body composition, fatigue, anxiety, depression, self-esteem and several quality of life factors specific to cancer survivors. The program includes a two month membership and classes twice a week featuring:
Pre/post body composition testing
Exercise and recreational programming with continuous communication from fitness and health professionals
Nutrition education
In-person group personal training
Yoga and mindfulness classes
Breathing for stress reduction
Support and affirmation from community and clinical staff
This program is sponsored by
Racquets for Recovery
, an annual tennis tournament that benefits breast cancer patients at the Hollings Cancer Center.
Participation in Fit Club requires a physician referral.

Fierce Foundation Fit Club
Fierce Foundations Fit Club is a 10-week overall fitness and wellness program specifically designed for gynecologic cancer survivors. Fierce Foundations focuses on improving pelvic floor strength, balance, cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, bone health, body composition, and symptoms of fatigue. The program also provides a supportive community which enhances mental wellness leading to a healthy sense of self. Each 10-week session can support up to 12 survivors and is sponsored by MUSC Hollings Cancer Center.
Classes are held Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. and program sessions include:
MUSC Wellness Center membership throughout the duration of the program
Pre/post body composition testingTwo 60-minute group exercise classes per week including:
Core-centric/functional strength training classes
Pilates
Yoga
Aquatic classes
Pickleball
Two 30-minute educational support sessions per week including:
Nutrition
Physical therapy (pelvic floor)
Occupational therapy
Medication education
Breathwork seminar
Therapeutic gardening
One 30-minute one-on-one personal training session with individualized exercise plan
Bone-building walking program
Continuous support from fitness and health professionals, as well as clinical staff

Fight Back
Fight Back is a continuation program that will support the participants who have completed the MUSC Wellness Center's Breast Cancer Survivors Fit Club.
The goal of the program is to provide participants a safe and supportive environment to maintain the strength and physical stamina gained while participating in Survivors Fit Club.
The program meets twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30-9:30 am. Each program session includes 24 one hour classes consisting of:
Functional movement and Activities of Daily Living (ADL) training
Strength, flexibility, balance, and mobility training
Exercises that enhance trunk rotation, core strength, gait, and postural health
Non-contact boxing-based drills used to increase aerobic stamina and building confidence
2026 Session Dates:
March 30 - June 4
October 5 - December 17 (no classes the week of Thanksgiving)
This program is fully sponsored by the Hollings Cancer Center and is limited to previous participants of the Breast Cancer Survivors Fit Club.

Fit and Fabulous
A fitness journey designed for women entering and experiencing menopause. Fit and Fabulous looks to engage and instruct women in perimenopause, menopause, or post menopause through different exercise modalities and nutrition education for best practices in overall wellness. This program does not require a physicians clearance form.
The program meets twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30am - 12:15pm. Program sessions include:
Resistance training
Pilates
Yoga
Nutritional education
Body composition scans
Pre and post assessments

Head and Neck Heroes
Head and Neck Heroes is a 10-week overall fitness and wellness program specifically designed for head and neck cancer survivors. The program focuses on improving balance, postural stability, cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, body composition, and symptoms of fatigue. The program also provides a supportive community that enhances mental wellness, leading to a healthy sense of self. Head Neck Heroes is sponsored through the Hollings Cancer Center.
Classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 am - 9:15 am and the program includes:
MUSC Wellness Center membership for the duration of the program
Pre/post body composition testing
Two 45-minute functional movement strength training classes
Two 30-minute educational support sessions (e.g., nutrition counseling)
One 30-minute one-on-one personal training session with individualized exercise plan
Bone-building walking program
Continuous support from fitness and health professionals, as well as clinical staff

Prostate Cancer Survivors' Strength Camp
In collaboration with the Hollings Cancer Center, the MUSC Wellness Center provides a comprehensive 10-week program for prostate cancer survivors that provides a supportive, group based approach to improve overall well-being. The program includes a two month membership and classes twice a week featuring:
Pre/post body composition testing
Exercise and recreational programming with continuous communication from fitness and health professionals
Nutrition education
In-person group personal training
Yoga and mindfulness classes
Breathing for stress reduction and pelvic floor strengthening sessions

The
Rheumatology Program
encourages individuals with rheumatological disorders to safely and effectively exercise using aquatics and some land-based exercise protocols. Participants will meet twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:45am-10:45am.

Rock Steady Boxing
Rock Steady Boxing
is an exercise program designed specifically for individuals with Parkinson’s Disease to help improve mobility, balance, overall strength, and Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s). Individuals at any stage of the disease are accommodated.
Rocksteady Boxing at the MUSC Wellness Center delivers a curriculum that addresses the major symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. Participants' safety is a top priority with multiple certified Rocksteady Boxing Coaches at every class. Classes meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00am - 12:30pm.

The program includes:
Annual assessments
Two 75-minute group exercise classes per week; 24 classes in total

Non-contact boxing-based drills that are used to achieve forced intensity, while also building confidence

Pick It Up for Parkinson's - Pickleball Program
Pick It Up for Parkinson's
is an 8-week instructional program, developed by exercise professionals and Movement Disorders specialists, that teaches people with Parkinson’s disease (PwPD) the techniques and strategies to play pickleball safely. The goal of the program is to get PwPD excited about the game and teach them key techniques and safety features that enable them to incorporate pickleball recreational play into their PD exercise routine.
Pick It Up for Parkinson's includes a therapist or trainer certified to teach this sport and educated on how to adapt play for safety. Players can also be grouped according to both skill and stage of disease, with increased safeguards or lower intensity for those at higher risk of falls.
Classes will meet in the Wellness Center Indoor Basketball Court on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30pm - 3:45pm. Pick It Up for Parkinson's is sponsored in full by the MUSC Movement Disorders Program.

Initial assessment*
