Convocation
Held in conjunction with the University of Georgia’s Commencement, the UGA College of Engineering’s Convocation is a special ceremony honoring students individually for their hard work and dedication in earning an engineering degree.
Spring 2026 Convocation
Thursday, May 7 | 6:30 PM | The Classic Center (300 N. Thomas Street, Athens, GA 30601)
*This event will not be ticketed, but a total guest count is required for each student. Large guest requests may require review and approval.
Graduates
: please arrive between 5:00 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. to line up for the processional. Students will be seated by their school (Chemical, Materials and Biomedical (CMB), Electrical and Computer Systems (ECE), or Environmental, Civil, Agricultural and Mechanical (ECAM)).
Regalia Orders
Caps, gowns and hoods may be purchased from the University Bookstore or online from
Jostens
. With the exception of the honors tassels, the color of tassels as well as the color of the velvet on the hoods worn by master’s and doctorate candidates are indicative of the academic subject area. The subject area color for engineering is orange. The honors tassels are as follows: Summa Cum Laude – Red, Silver and Black, Magna Cum Laude – Red and Silver, Cum Laude – Red and Black. The red College of Engineering stoles will be provided to you by the college.

Parking
The Classic Center has a 5 level parking deck on site. Additional downtown parking is available at the Courthouse Parking Deck (325E E Washington St, Athens, GA 30601) and the College Avenue Parking Deck (289 College Ave, Athens, GA 30601).
