Cooperstown Central School District spans approximately 99 square miles across five towns in rural, north-central Otsego County, New York, serving students in grades K–12. Nestled on the southern edge of the historic Village of Cooperstown, our district aims to be a model for academic achievement and rural community-based learning.
Our Mission
CCSD is a collaborative partnership of all home, school, and community stakeholders founded on trust. The District will provide a caring environment in which important and meaningful learning opportunities motivate our students to aspire to excellence. Active curiosity, compassion, and positivity are critical elements of effective teaching and learning. Our unified mindset is one that promotes the ideals of ownership and continuous improvement.
Our Vision
The District will be a regional and national model school district for educational excellence for all students in a rural community.
What Makes Us Great
At Cooperstown Central School District, students flourish in a close‑knit, supportive environment defined by small class sizes, personalized instruction, and dedicated teachers. Rooted in strong community partnerships and a culture of excellence, we offer outstanding academic performance while nurturing leaders both in and out of the classroom.
Strong Community Partnerships & Volunteer Support
Cooperstown CSD benefits from an extensive network of parent‑teacher, arts, sports, alumni, and welfare organizations.
Personalized Learning Via Small Class Sizes
With just ~800 students and a 13:1 student‑teacher ratio—better than the national average—students receive more tailored instruction and support
Strong Academic Performance & College Readiness
Average SAT ≈ 1250, ACT ≈ 26, graduation rates at 90–95 %—all indicate a strong foundation for college-bound students.
Highly Supportive & Inclusive Culture
The district prioritizes respect and dignity through its Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) training and anti-bullying/harassment policies.
