Overview
Qin Shi Huang (259-210 BCE), personal name Ying Zheng, was the first emperor of a unified China. In 221 BCE he conquered the six rival states and established the Qin Dynasty.
Life
Ying Zheng inherited the throne of Qin at age 13. He began personal rule in 238 BCE and launched campaigns to conquer the six rival states.

Terracotta Army
In 1974, farmers discovered the Terracotta Army pits near Xian. Over 8,000 terracotta warriors have been excavated. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.
