Synopsis

Prelude to Water Melody is Su Shi's famous Mid-Autumn ci poem, considered the greatest Mid-Autumn poem in Chinese history.

The Poem

When will the moon be clear and bright? Holding a cup of wine, I ask the blue sky.
I do not know what year it is tonight in the celestial palace.
People have sorrow and joy, parting and reunion. The moon has its phases, bright and dim. This has been difficult to perfect since ancient times.
May we all be blessed with longevity. Though far apart, we share the beauty of the moon together.
