In particular, it examines the use of the Damasian capital in its late-antique phase, and its subsequent revival in the 8th century, also in the function of monumental celebration of the martyrs in the urban churches, and thus the relations linking these revivals to the figure of Pope Damasus

Through the palaeographic study of the subscriptions of documents produced in Italy between the 8... more Through the palaeographic study of the subscriptions of documents produced in Italy between the 8th and 10th centuries, with particular reference to the autograph subscriptions of members of the aristocracies, the possibility of self-representation through the use of particular graphic forms as an element demarcating masculinity is discussed. The study showed that writing does not constitute an identity factor of masculinity, nor does it constitute an element of status recognition. the hypothesis that the use of expanded writing is voluntary is thus questioned, identifying instead numerous cases of reduced literacy, while the use of current writing does not indicate any substantial differences.

The study focuses on the distinctive scripts of manuscripts produced at the Luxeuil scriptorium b... more The study focuses on the distinctive scripts of manuscripts produced at the Luxeuil scriptorium between the 7th and 8th centuries. The examination of the scripts identifies some groups of distinctive scripts defined by the presence of insular script influences, others on the contrary defined by the use of letters from epigraphic capital. The distinctive scripts of the manuscripts are then compared with coeval inscriptions found at the necropolis of Luxeuil. A double epigraphic production emerges from the comparative analysis: one linked to the Merovingian tradition of writing; a second, on the contrary, decisively influenced by the bookish script.

Il ritorno allo Stato nel 2015 delle funzioni di tutela dei beni librari, in precedenza delegate dallo Stato medesimo alle Regioni, è stato il tema del primo convegno ed è il filo conduttore delle riflessioni raccolte nella prima parte del volume. Esse si concentrano sull’organizzazione delle nuove Soprintendenze archivistiche e bibliografiche e sulle criticità comportate dalla riforma istituzionale. Il restauro, la più complessa tra le attività di conservazione del patrimonio storico, eppure irrinunciabile laddove la degradazione ne precluda la fruizione e ne metta a rischio la trasmissione al futuro, è stato l’argomento del successivo convegno. Trinità di Cava De' Tirreni, Codices Cavenses, Cod.2, containing Isidore's Etymologiae, assigned to the scriptorium of Montecassino and dated to the end of the 8th century, in particular 779-797, the years of Theodemaro's abbey.The manuscript contains an inventory of codices, at c. 69r, among which there is a reference to the Historia Langobardorum of Paul the Deacon. The reference to a codex of the Historia Langobardorum provides the one and only clue to the manuscript circulation of Paul Deacon's work in the Cassinese area.The manuscript contains an inventory of codices, at c. 69r, among which there is a reference to the Historia Langobardorum of Paul the Deacon. The reference to a codex from the Historia Langobardorum provides the one and only trace of the manuscript circulation of Paul Deacon's text in the Cassinese area. It would be the only ( although indirect) southern Italian attestation of the Historia Langobardorum, attestation so highly dated that it corresponds to the presence of Paul Deacon in Montecassino.

analysis of the walls, with particular attention to the plaster and the frescoes of the eastern apse; (b) a revision of the excavation
data of the 80s; (c) the excavation of a tomb in front of the atrium of the church; (d) new systematic 14C dating of wood and
mortar entrusted to three different laboratories; (e) a study of the historical and artistic cycle of frescoes in the apse east; (f) a
study of the graffiti engraved on the frescoes.
The results suggest two distinct phases of construction and decoration of the church. At the latest, that the 14C determinations
place in the mid-tenth century, relates the famous cycle of frescoes of the eastern apse.

Vincenzo al Volturno è stata elaborata una particolare stilizzazione delle scritture epigrafiche con numerosi punti di contatto con le scritture distintive dei manoscritti coevi e prodotti presso il medesimo monastero. con il secolo successivo si individuano ulteriori elaborazioni delle scritture epigrafiche che abbandonando la primitiva struttura, acquisiscono una propria specificità non immune da influenze grafiche esterne al monastero medesimo.
