What is UGA Extension?
The University of Georgia (UGA) Exension office operates through a unique partnership with local county governments, the state of Georgia and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
We translate the science of everyday living for farmers, families, and communities to foster a healthy and prosperous DeKalb county.
For more than a century, we've provided research-based education through a network of committed specialists, agents and volunteers to help Georgians learn, grow and do more.
Office Hours
Our regular office hours are 8:30 am- 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. These hours are subject to change during holidays.
We strive to get back to you as soon as possible. Please allow 24 hours for a response to your e-mail or voice message.

Let’s Make Summer Camp a Reality for 50 Students!
What is the 4-H Bus Initiative? We’re on a mission to sponsor 20 students for an unforgettable 4-H Summer Camp experience! For just $440 per student, we can provide a week of hands-on learning, leadership development, and lifelong memories. Many students in our community may not afford this opportunity without your support.
How You Can Help: - $440: Fully sponsor one student’s camp experience.
- $220: Provide half the cost for a student.
- $100, $50, or $25: Contribute to the general camp fund.

Backyard Gardening 101
Oconee County Extension will host a 3-day workshop on the basics of growing backyard fruits and veggies. The program will be Wednesday-Friday, 4/22-4/24, from 5:30 -7:30 PM at the Oconee County Extension Office (1420 Experiment Station Rd, Watkinsville GA 30677). Topics will include soil fertility/testing, seed starting, gardening basics, and fruit tree/shrub maintenance. It will also include hands-on activities, including seed starting, soil testing, and a food processing bootcamp. The program cost is $15. Register by Friday, 4/17.
