(De)Stress Fest

As you wrap up the semester, we understand the pressure that accompanies finals week. All the lectures, research papers, group projects, and tests boil down to one final exam.
Counseling Outreach Peer Education (COPE), Student Government (SG), and Association of Greek Letter Organizations (AGLO) partnered together to provide a (De)Stress Fest, partially funded by a grant to support student mental health through the Division of Student Affairs. Dr. Pat Whitely, Senior Vice President for Student Affairs shared, “I am excited about the (De)Stress event organized by SG, AGLO, and COPE. It is so important for our students to take a break and relax before finals begin. I am so grateful for the wonderful donor who decided to support mental health initiatives of our students. Our motto will always be ‘Canes Care for ‘Canes, where we foster an environment of support and wellbeing—that is what it means to be a caring community.”
The event occurred December 8
at The Rock, brought awareness to the importance of taking small steps throughout your day to improve well-being and mental health. The event focused on encouraging students to take a break from studying to relax and gain a deeper understanding of how taking purposeful breaks can refresh one’s brain and body, increase energy, productivity, and ability to focus.
During the event, students were able to interact with therapy dogs, receive a massage, enjoy lunch, and learned ways to take actionable steps to enhance mental health and overall wellness.
