Synopsis

Yang Zi and Li Xian collaborate for the third time, telling the legendary and inspiring story of He Weifang, the daughter of a Tang Dynasty merchant family, who rises from a disastrous marriage by relying on her exceptional skill in cultivating peonies, and joins forces with the imperial envoy Jiang Changyang to embark on a business venture.

"Flourished Peony" is a 2025 Chinese costume legend drama directed by Ding Ziguang, with screenwriters including Zhang Yuan'ang and Ma Yuxin. Plot

During the Tang Dynasty, He Weifang (played by Yang Zi, courtesy name Mudan), the daughter of a merchant, marries into the Liu family in Luoyang but falls into a "disastrous marriage." Due to the Tang Dynasty's disdain for merchants, her wedding procession is forced to enter through the back door, subjecting her to cold treatment and bullying.

Possessing extraordinary skills in cultivating rare peonies, He Weifang initially tolerates the hypocritical Liu family but eventually fights back, breaking free from her unhappy marriage.

Jiang Changyang (played by Li Xian), renowned as the most elegant man in Chang'an, outwardly plays the role of a "flattering flower and bird envoy" while secretly biding his time. After meeting, the two transition from indifferent observers to mutual supporters, forming a golden partnership of "craftsman and investor" as they embark on business ventures, pursuing both national interests and personal emotions.
