Overview
"Put Your Head on My Shoulder" is a 2019 Chinese mainland youth romance web series. Directed by Zhu Dongning and starring Xing Fei and Lin Yi, the series is adapted from Zhao Qianqian's novel of the same name and is the second installment in the "To Us" series (the predecessor being "A Love So Beautiful"). The series consists of 24 episodes and premiered on Tencent Video on April 10, 2019. With a light and warm touch, the series depicts the youthful growth story of two protagonists from accidental cohabitation to knowing and loving each other. Due to its fresh, natural style and highly restored sweet interactions, it gained widespread popularity among young audiences and received a rating of 7.8 on Douban.
Plot
The story begins with Gu Weiyi (played by Lin Yi), a physics genius about to graduate, and Situ Mo (played by Xing Fei), an optimistic and cheerful accounting major. The two meet due to a misunderstanding and later, by coincidence, start an "accidental cohabitation" life arranged by their mothers. Initially, the two, with contrasting personalities, constantly clash. Gu Weiyi is rational, aloof, and obsessed with physics experiments, while Situ Mo is emotional, lively, full of aspirations for the future but also carrying confusion.
Under the same roof, a series of lifelike and hilarious events bring them closer. Situ Mo's warmth gradually melts Gu Weiyi's icy exterior, while Gu Weiyi's steadiness and silent dedication provide Situ Mo with solid support. From facing the pressures of graduation and job hunting together to dealing with life's minor setbacks, their feelings quietly grow through daily interactions. The series lacks intense dramatic conflicts, instead focusing on the subtle emotional flow in ordinary life. It gently narrates the sweetness of youth, the pursuit of dreams, and the troubles of growing up, ultimately presenting a beautiful love story born from "warm little moments."

Cultural Impact
After airing in the spring of 2019, "Put Your Head on My Shoulder" quickly became one of the phenomenal youth dramas. Its success lies not only in its high-sweetness plot but also in its depiction of a "realistic"青春 landscape. Unlike some dramas filled with melodramatic plots, this series focuses on common issues faced by university graduates—career choices, life direction, the transition from campus to society, and how to build an equal, mutually supportive intimate relationship. This close-to-reality narrative resonated with a large audience.
The plot where Gu Weiyi uses "physics to pursue his love," turning profound scientific principles into romantic confessions, was highly creative and became a hot topic online, further solidifying the on-screen image of the "genius boyfriend." Meanwhile, the excellent performances by Xing Fei and Lin Yi, especially their natural chemistry, earned them the nickname "Wei-Mo Couple," garnering immense popularity and significantly boosting the fame of the two leads.
The series also continued and strengthened the brand effect of the "To Us" series IP, proving the lasting appeal of high-quality youth sweet romance dramas in the Chinese market. It represents a trend in青春 drama creation: moving away from exaggeration, emphasizing details, warming hearts, and touching audiences by showcasing beautiful moments in ordinary life. It has become a representative work for many viewers as a "perfect show to watch while eating" and a "healing remedy."
