What we aim to solve
SOURCE: Self-reported by organization
Despite EarthShare’s impact over the past 35 years, it’s clear that environmental nonprofits are woefully underfunded, receiving only 2% of all philanthropy globally. They need new, reliable forms of funding as they work to solve unprecedented environmental threats including the climate crisis, biodiversity collapse, deep-seated environmental injustices, and a host of other issues.

EarthShare provides its national Network of Nonprofit Partners with vital services and support, like access to dozen of public and private workplace giving campaigns that result in more money for our Nonprofit Partners. By offering quick and affordable access to thousands of workplace campaigns, we are helping environmental groups solve the most critical issues in their communities.

Inspiring Businesses to Act for the Planet
EarthShare makes it easy for businesses to engage their employees, customers, and community in positive environmental impact. Leveraging technology for good, our Giving and Engagement Platform offers businesses a modern workplace giving solution that facilitates giving to more than 1.5+M 501(c)(3) nonprofits as well as EarthShares vetted network of 500 environmentally focused Nonprofit Partners. Businesses can run matching programs, allow employees to take part in corporate giving, receive custom engagement advising from EarthShares experts, and more. EarthShares Giving Platform is equipped with expertly-curated environmental education content, making it easier for companies to invite their customers and employees to take action on the environmental issues that matter to them. With our tools, businesses can reach external audiences by creating and promoting public-facing giving campaigns to fundraise for environmental causes that align with their brand values.

Inspiring Individuals to Act for the Planet
EarthShare engages an inclusive movement of individuals to build a better planet through 1) workplace giving campaigns and 2) our new environmentally-focused Giving Platform. As a core offering, EarthShare works with hundreds of public and private workplaces, from federal, state, and local governments to Fortune 500 corporations. We provide access to these campaigns for our Nonprofit Partners and they get to engage new workplace donors with minimal effort or upfront investment. In 2022, EarthShare created a leading environmentally focused digital platform that allows anyone to create a no-minimum donor-advised fund (DAF), make donations to any U.S. 501(c)(3), and manage their personal impact. Our DAF platform leverages technology to help break down barriers that discourage participation and inspire people with stories about urgent issues.

Elevating & Supporting Our Nonprofit Partners
For over 35 years, EarthShare has served environmental nonprofits by helping them access public and private workplace giving campaigns. Our Nonprofit Partner Network of vetted environmental organizations includes 500 local, national, and international organizations, from large and well-known nonprofits to smaller grassroots organizations. EarthShare has mobilizing more than $375M for the planet and countless hours of volunteering. We recently reopened and are actively expanding our Nonprofit Partners Network to new organizations across the United States with the goal of creating a Nonprofit Network that represents the full range of solutions needed to combat the environmental crisis. We are welcoming new Nonprofit Partners working in underrepresented regions and issue areas with an emphasis on marginalized voices, addressing problems like environmental and climate justice, and forging deep relationships with an inclusive collective of amazing organizations dedicated to the environment.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
EarthShare aims to dramatically increase unrestricted revenue, awareness, volunteers and resources flowing to the environmental sector, particularly our vetted Network of 500 Nonprofit Partners that are working on the frontlines to serve communities and improve the planet.
People and the nonprofit sector need more resources to accelerate environmental solutions at scale. A growing number of potential donors want to act, but they need better tools, education, and support. Specifically, they need guidance to navigate the vast landscape of issues and nonprofits, and access to dynamic tools such as donor-advised funds (DAFs), philanthropic advising, and grantmaking insights, which are too-often relegated to high-net-worth donors.
EarthShare developed a powerful new technology that brings new donors and more money into the environmental movement. EarthShare’s Giving and Engagement Platform allows anyone to open a no-minimum donor-advised fund (DAF), access expertly crafted educational content, and support vetted environmental nonprofits as well as 1.5M+ other nonprofits. With content developed in partnership with EarthShare’s network of 500 vetted 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Partners, it is a robust and streamlined experience for the environmentally conscious donor.
To build a healthier planet for all of us, EarthShare is looking to grow our partnerships with businesses, individuals, nonprofits, and communities on the ground. We want to give as many companies and people as possible access to our Giving Platform in order to benefit the planet and nonprofits who have deep expertise in today’s most critical environmental issues. EarthShare’s Platform offers a way for everyone to get involved in helping build a more sustainable planet. This technology solution is good for business and the planet—all of which will be greatly affected by climate change if we do not tap into collective action and the power of good.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Our strategy of working with businesses, employees, individuals in the workplace and beyond relies on developing strong, long-lasting relationships built on a foundation of trust. EarthShare builds towards our vision of everyone taking action for the planet by forming connections that will help businesses and nonprofits grow together. We provide modern tools for individuals and employees to engage in making an impact for the environment, and the guidance businesses want to make their employee giving and corporate philanthropy a success.
Transparency and accountability are core values of EarthShare, interwoven in our strategy. We build trust and credibility through our actions, mobilizing $375M to date for environmental groups, increasing awareness of science-based solutions, and encouraging countless other actions such as volunteering.
To get everyone involved in our strategy of building a healthier planet, EarthShare brings value and resources to individuals, businesses and our Nonprofit Partners by:
- Building the most inclusive, diverse and engaged environmental Nonprofit Network.
- Leveraging tech for good to provide new services and reach new audiences.
- Inspiring businesses and individuals in and beyond the workplace.
- Maximizing workplace giving campaigns and making those campaigns more affordable for our Nonprofit Partners.
- Streamlining and simplifying operations, better defining how we work with our stakeholders, and adopting an entrepreneurial attitude toward growth and innovation.
