What is a co-production?
Co-productions are a special collaborative process that allows different theatre companies to join forces, with staff, resources, and creative ideas all working in harmony to create an experience that audiences deserve to see. Think of it like the Marvel Avengers of theater! Some shows provide logistical puzzles that are too much for one company to solve, and choosing to undertake these problems with other theatres allows companies with different strengths to assist each other and bring important works to more audiences.

Fat Ham
By James Ijames
Directed by Charles Grant
JUMP TO: Dates, Run Time, Playbill, & More
A week after Juicy’s father dies, he finds himself at a backyard barbecue celebrating the marriage of his mother and uncle—sound familiar? James Ijames’s Pulitzer Prize-winning reimagining of Shakespeare's
Hamlet
casts the sweet prince of Denmark as a queer, Black boy from the South. In this comedy born from tragedy, Juicy must choose between seeking vengeance for his father’s death or staying true to his own heart—a story of identity, family, and liberation as we become our truest selves.
“[Fat Ham] will keep you howling from beginning to end. DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW!!!” — Broadway World

BIPOC Affinity Nights
are a mindful curation of an environment meant to center the experience of people who identify as part of the BIPOC community (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) — dedicated to generating a space for BIPOC individuals to engage with the performance in ways that are authentic to them.
All people who self-identify as BIPOC, and their guests, are specifically invited to attend. Though no one will be turned away, it is encouraged that folks outside of the BIPOC community join us on another night.

Marcel M. Johansen
(He/Him)
Tio
Marcel Mawulorm Johansen is an interdisciplinary artist from Tema, Ghana, currently based in Portland, Oregon. His art comes from a place of childlike curiosity about the world, and himself in relation to it—in search of the thin through lines that thread our shared and individual human experiences. His work is deeply rooted in personal experience, ancestral memory, and cultural lineage. It is a spiritual practice as much as a creative one—cathartic, revealing, and sometimes healing.
Marcel’s modes of expression follow the flow of inspiration and opportunity. He currently weaves between film photographs, video, poetry, event production, film/theatre acting and experimental performance art. You can often find him hosting Portland’s iteration of the on-going “RNBAFTERDARK” series at L’atelier Yaffe, or on a leisurely walk, staring at things.
