A RESEARCH PROPOSAL ONENGLISH READING COMPREHENSION TEXT LEVEL DIFFICULTIES AMONG SAUDI SCIENCE STUDENTS
Abstract: Reading can play a vital role in personality development. No one can neglect its importance.
But recent trendsshow that students’ priorities are changing overtime, and they are interested
more in social media, entertainment, and reading novels. The purpose of reading is specific to
them. Reading can make students optimistic and ambitious about their dreams.It is crucial to
learn the easy and effective ways of reading at the university level because university level
study is different from school and college level.University M.Phil. level requiresvariousforms
and patternsof reading to achieve excellent grades. This study attempts to analyze the reading
habit of students at a leading public university in Multan city. The purpose of the study is to
measure the reading habits of M.Phil.Level students by percentage in the Economics
department. It is a case study in which a questionnaire wasapplied to collect data from the
Economics Department of Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan, Pakistan. A sample size of
30 respondentsat M.Phil. level was used to collect the data from the Economics Department
of the University.The findings of the study showedpoor reading habitsamong the students
while their interest was high towards social media, using the internet, and other activities.
They like to read novels and other reading stuff instead of reading course books.

Reading Habit of Students in Social Sciences and Arts: A Case Study of Rajshahi University
Abstract: Reading is considered essential for the overall development of a human being. However, with the advent of modern digital technologies, especially the growing popularity of social networking on the web, mobile phones, televisions, and other means of entertainment, the reading habit of the general public, especially the younger generation, is undergoing a decline. This paper tries to assess the reading habit of the students of a leading public university in Bangladesh and identify the trends in their reading habit. Reading and other activities of the respondents have been analyzed to find out how reading habit is affected by various other elements. Based on the findings of a questionnaire-based survey, the paper also attempts to put forward recommendations for improving the reading habit of young students in particular and the larger cross-sections of people in general.

A Case Study on reading habits of University students
Abstract: Learning through reading is the fundamental process. A case study was conducted on the students of UAF Sub-Campus Toba Tek Singh to examine the reading habits and academic performance. All the students of this campus are considered for the population of the study. The data was collected through an interview and focus group discussion from the sample (N=200) and quantitatively analyzed with the statistical approach such as, Statistical Package of Social Sciences (SSPS). The study revealed that the only 22.0% students read the relevant syllabus books and 17.5% students read the outside the syllabus books, while the vast majority 78.0% and 82.5% didn’t read syllabus and outside syllabus books respectively. They found that the positive association exists between the reading habit of students and academic performance. It is recommended that the students should be encouraged by the parents and teachers to increase reading habits and provide easy access to books.
