Golden Scholars
The Golden Scholars Summer Bridge Program offers select incoming FTIC students admission to the early Fall semester, providing access to resources and support that set them up for success at FIU. In addition to reviewing each student’s academic profile, we invite those who are the first in their family to attend college or who will receive a Pell Grant to complete a supplemental application, which also asks about participation in college-bound support programs.
Pathways for GED or Homeschooled Applicants
Under
Florida Board of Governors regulation 6.002
, FIU considers applicants who have completed high school through home education, GED, or non-traditional programs if they present credentials determined to be equivalent to a standard high school diploma in the State of Florida and a minimum SAT score of 1060 or ACT score of 21 or a CLT score of 67. Minimum scores do not guarantee admission.
HS Diploma AA from FCS Pathway
High School Applicants earning an AA from a Florida State College or State University.
High school students participating in dual enrollment and other acceleration programs, and who are on track to earn an associate in arts (AA) degree from a Florida College System or State University System institution, and who do not meet the requirements of
Florida Board of Governors Regulation 6.004
, may be considered for admission under a special category.
Applicants should complete the general admissions application and the
supplemental AA application
. All documents, except for the final high school transcripts and the final dual enrollment transcript, are required by FIU admissions deadlines.
Admission is contingent upon completing all additional requirements for admission:
Applicants must meet the requirements in
Florida Board of Governors Regulation 6.002
Applicants who would benefit from the AA admissions option have the choice to submit SAT, ACT or CLT scores.
Applicants must submit proof that they are on track to earn their AA degree through dual enrollment by
submitting official college transcripts
Applicants must earn their AA degree in the same semester/term as their high school diploma (typically spring of their senior year in high school).
Applicants must meet all FTIC
deadlines
for admission.
You are required to list all colleges and universities attended during high school, including those with dual enrollment programs. Should you not include this information, we cannot consider you for this pathway.
Applicants, please note the following information regarding this pathway:
Failure to complete your AA degree may result in your offer of admission being rescinded.
AA degrees earned or awarded from non-public schools or colleges, or schools or colleges outside of the State of Florida, do not qualify under this admissions pathway.
Applicants who opt for this pathway may not be eligible for selective admission majors, majors that require specific preparation, or have prerequisites. To understand specialized admissions and academic progression, please visit
Specialized Admissions
Applicants who would benefit from this pathway will work closely with their school’s college counselor and FIU University Admissions to ensure all requirements are met.
Supported Transition to Excellence Pathway (STEP)
We admit selected FTIC students to this pathway to provide them with the best opportunity for success during their college career. Students who have chosen a STEM, Business, or Engineering major, but who are not calculus-ready, are required to meet certain course and program milestones. Students who have selected a non-STEM major may also be admitted into this pathway and need to meet required milestones. This pathway provides students with additional support services such as workshops and specialized advising, which means that their FIU journey is tailored to them.

Spring Direct
We admit selected FTIC students to our Spring Direct pathway. Students admitted to this pathway may benefit from taking 2-3 courses at the state college in the summer/fall before entering FIU.
Connect4Success
This pathway is for:
Applicants currently attending a member institution of the Florida College System (FCS) before enrolling at FIU; or
Applicants who would benefit from first earning their Associate in Arts (AA) degree from an FCS institution, then transferring to FIU.
Students are admitted to Connect4Success in two ways:
Direct application - Apply to FIU through the Connect4Success application, select a partner FCS college, and apply to that college.
Referral - Apply to FIU and receive a decision referring you to Connect4Success, which you may choose to accept.
This pathway is designed for applicants attending a member of the State College System of Florida before attending FIU. Applicants will apply to FIU through the Connect4Success application, select a partner college (any member of the FSC in Florida), and apply to that college.
During their two years at the state college, FIU will hold their application until they are ready to transition to FIU. Benefits include having an academic advisor at FIU, an FIU OneCard, and access to FIU academic and social events.
Our Decision Process
Admission to FIU is selective and is based on high school GPA, grades in academic core courses, course selection, college readiness in math, writing, and reading, and standardized test scores. In some cases, FIU also considers class rank and special talents through auditions, portfolios, or tryouts.
Applicants who have submitted a complete application and all supporting materials by the required deadlines will receive an admission decision. We employ a comprehensive process to evaluate your academic criteria.
When we review an application, we consider the applicant’s probability of success based on what the applicant has accomplished in their academic history and through their opportunities and challenges. No single factor determines an admission decision.
FIU may admit students who demonstrate a capacity for success in college-level coursework but who may need additional support in math, critical thinking, and college-level writing. These pathways are designed to ensure students are provided with the tools and foundations needed to be successful at a preeminent, research university.
Once a decision is made, you are notified through MyFIU, email, and letter. The decision to place the applicant in a pathway or start a specific term is based on academic success factors. We will only consider an appeal if it contains new and compelling information with supporting documentation.
