Food Services - Goodwin Magnet System
Food Services
At Goodwin University Magnet School System, we know that education takes energy, and full stomachs fuel that energy; that's why we offer healthy, delicious meals prepared daily. We believe it is important to provide a high quality Food Service Program at each of our schools.
Children who eat well-balanced meals and are physically healthy are more likely to learn in the classroom. The link between good nutrition and good education is clearly demonstrated by better attendance, higher test scores, and fewer behavioral problems in school.
We are pleased to inform you that Goodwin University Magnet School System will be implementing a program available to schools participating in the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Programs called the
Community Eligibility Provision (CEP)
What does this mean for you and your children attending the schools identified below?
Great news! All enrolled students of Goodwin University Magnet School System are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at school at
no cost
to your household each day of the school year. Your children will be able to participate in these meal programs without having to pay a fee or submit a meal application.

As a CEP school district, Goodwin University Magnet School System (GUMSS) offers one breakfast and one lunch daily to all enrolled students AT NO CHARGE.
If a student has a dietary restriction that requires a menu modification, a specific medical form (provided by the district) must be completed by a CSDE medical authority and submitted to the food service director. All accommodations supported by the Medical Statement will be followed by the food service program. Additional menu requests can be made to the food service director and will be considered on a case-by-case basis. We strive to be able to serve nutritious meals to ALL students and are happy to consider all requests for special dietary needs.
Menus can be accessed through
An additional full 2nd lunch meal is available for $3.50. Money must be in a student's meal account or the meal paid for at the time of purchase. There is no charging of second meals or a la carte items.
A complete breakfast includes 1 or 2 fruit choices: a juice, canned fruit in juice or light syrup, dried fruit, or fresh fruit; 1 or 2 grain choices: cereal, bagel, breakfast pastries, etc. and 1% white or fat free chocolate milk. A complete lunch includes 1 or 2 fruit choices, 2 vegetable choices, 2 grain servings, 2 or more oz of a meat or meat alternate and 8 oz of milk. Grades 9-12 are allowed more portions to meet higher calorie needs.
No, a student can select certain foods and decline others. What a student MUST select to receive the meal at no charge is at least 1 fruit and 2 other servings at breakfast, and at least one serving of a fruit or vegetable and 2 other food group foods at lunch. These are considered “reimbursable meals” and are offered to each student AT NO CHARGE.
Fruits and vegetables are served in ½ c portions except for leafy salads, which are 1 full cup. Grain servings are usually 1-2 oz in weight depending on the grade level being served, milk is an 8 oz serving for all grade levels, and the meat/meat alternate (protein) is at least 2 oz and occasionally more.
