Friends of SWPS
The Friends of Sir William Perkins’s School believe that our school community is important. Making connections across the year groups and coming together is a great way for parents to get to know each other and support our children in their education.
Raising funds for the school is also a part of who we are. Whether selling refreshments at the many music and drama performances throughout the year or at Sports Day, supporting our second-hand uniform sales, or helping with our two main fundraising events every year – the Christmas Fair and the Quiz Night – there are many ways in which parents can help towards raising funds. Parents are encouraged to be fully involved in the life and community of the school and we warmly invite all parents to get engaged and be an active member of the Friends of SWPS.
Friends of SWPS Committee
The Friends of Sir William Perkins’s School is run by parent members. New parent committee members are always welcome.

Meet your Friends of SWPS Committee
Chairperson: Christabel Moseley
Hi, I have a daughter in the school and have been on the Committee in the position of Treasurer since March 2023. I was at SWPS over 30 years ago and love the fact that despite having grown and that there are now better facilities, the ethos has not changed and it remains the friendly, inclusive school it always was (and amazingly, two of my old teachers are still at SWPS!). A couple of years ago, I stepped back from work after running my veterinary surgery for over 18 years, and so I’ve had some time to dedicate to the Friends of SWPS. The last year has been a rollercoaster of learning all things SWPS related, organising and running our various events, but I have enjoyed every minute due to the amazing parents, teachers and staff at the school – so much so that I have stepped up as Chairperson! I am excited about our new look Committee and am positive that we will achieve great things going forward to enable us to keep supporting the school by providing equipment and contributing towards projects which enhance the learning journey of our students.
Secretary: Kate Michael
I’m Kate, and my daughter is at SWPS. I enjoy being actively involved in school life and am passionate about bringing the community together. As Secretary, I help support the organisation and smooth running of Friends of SWPS activities.
Treasurer: Keri James
I am Keri, and have two girls in the school. I am going to be putting my accountancy skills to use as treasurer where I’ll be preparing the accounts, Charity Commission returns and Gift Aid claims … so please fill out your Gift Aid forms and we can make your donations work harder for us!
Editor: Shirley Short
My name is Shirley. I have a daughter in the school and a son at Twickenham Prep. I’m a freelance writer who works for the dyslexia charity, Made By Dyslexia. I’ll be helping with messaging and comms for the Friends of SWPS, delivering our messages clearly and simply so everyone understands what we do and how they can help. I’m looking forward to working with an amazing group of people to make our events as friendly and welcoming as they can be and continue the amazing Friends of SWPS spirit!
Second Hand Uniform Co-Ordinator: Anita Reynell
My name is Anita Reynell. My daughter is in the school and I am a SWPS alumna, former flight attendant, singer and singing teacher. I’m also a radio presenter at Hospital Radio Wey. My role on the Committee is to be the spokesperson for the Second Hand Uniform Shop which I run with Jo Parkinson, whose daughters are also in Year 9. I love being part of a team whose aims are to raise funds and help others, whilst enjoying fun and friendship, so I am looking forward to getting to know you all.
Advisor: Eileen White
Hi, I am Eileen White, mum to three daughters who are all studying or have studied at SWPS. My eldest has left SWPS and is currently studying at Oxford University. I am the Designated Nurse for Safeguarding Children, Surrey-wide, and I am particularly interested in involving myself in the school life of the children so I am more relatable as a mum. I have been an active member of the Friends of SWPS for many years before taking on the role of Co-Chair for several years. I have even managed to ensure my husband is involved with school life as one of the 3 quiz masters! I have decided to step away from the Co-Chair role but I am reluctant to walk away completely as I want to help, advise and make a contribution to the Friends of SWPS but, most importantly, I would like to keep in contact with an amazing group of parents who are all dedicated to raising funds to enhance the school experience for all our children.
School Liaison: Cathy Hudspith
I have been a teacher of Classics at SWPS for 36 years. For 25 years I was Head of the Classics Department, but I was also Pastoral Head of Years 7 – 9 and in charge of SEND on two separate occasions. Now, in addition to my teaching, I am Head of Lonsdale House. I have loved my years at the school and was delighted that my daughter was a student here. One of my favourite responsibilities was being Form Tutor for 7L which I did for 14 years! Outside school I love going to the theatre and I sing in the Windsor and Eton Choral Society.
Gift-Aid
We are asking ALL parents who gift aid or would like to gift aid the annual membership donation for Friends of SWPS (paid in the Autumn Term bill) to complete a new Gift Aid Declaration this year, to reflect the new GDPR requirements.
Many thanks for your continued support. Gift Aiding your donations will enable us to claim back an extra 25% on top of your annual donations to help support various projects within the school.

Parent Volunteers
Friends of SWPS organise a number of social events during the year including the annual Quiz Night, Christmas Fair and Sports Day refreshments. In addition we run the second hand uniform/equipment sales and provide refreshments at various school events such as musical concerts and the Carol services.
Form Representatives
Each form has one or more form representatives who act as a communication link with the Friends of Sir William Perkins’s School.
This is a purely voluntary role and there are no strict rules for what is required of a rep. Some reps organise social events for the parents and for the girls (separately of course!) and these are a good way for parents to get to know their daughter’s new friends and classmates and for the girls to have some fun together outside the school environment.
Second Hand Uniform Sales
The Friends of Sir William Perkins’s School organise second-hand uniform sales for new and existing parents. This provides an opportunity to sell outgrown, but good condition, uniform and sports kit allowing other parents a chance to replace or upsize clothes or kit.
