Getting an Account
When your project is awarded time at NAS, it is assigned a project group ID (GID). If you are a principal investigator (PI), but have not yet requested and received an allocation or GID, please begin by
requesting an allocation
Getting a New Account
Obtain a NASA Identity / Agency User ID (AUID)
An active NASA Identity is required for your NAS account. If you do not have a NASA Identity, your PI must request one for you. PIs can request NASA Identities for themselves and their users through the online account request system linked in step 3, below.
Complete NASA’s mandatory Cybersecurity and Privacy Awareness Training
All NAS users—new and returning—must complete IT Security Training as an annual requirement for supercomputer access. New users with recently enabled NASA identities will receive information on how to complete the required security training online through NASA’s web-based
SATERN system
Complete and Submit a NAS Account Request
Follow the link below to the online account request system. You will need your GID, provided by your PI, when you apply for your NAS account.
Note:
You must have an enabled NASA Identity to use the online account request system. If you do not already have an enabled NASA identity, please ask your PI to use the system to request an identity for you.

Obtain Your SecurID RSA Token
A SecurID RSA token is required for supercomputing access. If you are a remote NAS user and are not located at a NASA center, NAS will supply an RSA token to you upon approval of your account form.
If you are located at a NASA center, but do not have an RSA token, you can request one from your center through NAMS.

If you need assistance at any point in the process, please contact the NAS Control Room: (800) 331-8737, (650) 604-4444, or by email at

Renewing Accounts
Returning users and principal investigators will receive email instructions for account renewals. Once received, follow the link below to the online account request system. Then begin the process by answering the question on the right, under "Renew Your NAS Account."
