As head of Generative AI Engineering at the international technology firm
GRUPO TX
, Keuka College alumnus Eduardo Serra is helping organizations around the world use artificial intelligence to work smarter, solve problems faster, and unlock new opportunities for growth.
Innovation Through Action
One of Eduardo Serra's recent projects was spotlighted by Amazon Web Services (AWS) as a global success story.
Working with the Municipality of Panama, Serra and his team at Grupo TX created a generative AI chatbot to help citizens quickly get answers about local building regulations.
Before, residents often waited a long time for staff to research and respond to their questions. Now, thanks to this new system, employees can provide accurate answers in minutes, freeing them to help more people every day.
"It used to be that only a few specialists had access to the information people needed," Serra explained. "Now, everyone can get the same clear, consistent guidance."
It's just one example of how Keuka College graduates are driving global innovation that improves everyday lives.

A Childhood Spark
Serra grew up in Caracas, Venezuela, where computers were part of his daily life. His father, a software engineer, introduced him early on to the world of coding and even text-only video games.
“I was one of the first people I knew who had internet access back in the ’90s,” Serra recalled. “From a young age, I was hooked on the idea that technology could connect us and change how we live.”
The turning point came in his teens, when he saw a Discovery Channel commercial predicting a surge in demand for software engineers.
“That commercial connected my hobby to a real career path,” he said. “I knew then what I wanted to do.”
Finding the Right Fit at Keuka College
After earning his undergraduate degree in Systems Engineering from La Universidad Metropolitana in Caracas, Serra sought a graduate program that would help him grow from developer to leader. Keuka College stood out.
“The campus setting on Keuka Lake was so peaceful and perfect for focused study, but I also loved the access to New York City’s energy and opportunities,” he said. “It was the best of both worlds.”
He enrolled in the College’s MS in Management program (now the
MS in Leadership
), drawn to its emphasis on international business and cross-cultural collaboration – skills he was already beginning to use in his work with global teams.
Professors Who Opened Doors
What made the difference for Serra were the professors who encouraged him to bridge his technical background with business leadership.
“My instructors pushed me to take what I knew about software development and apply it to emerging technologies,” he said. “They challenged me to show how these innovations could create real business value. That experience shaped how I communicate about technology to this day.”

Fast forward to today, and Serra is guiding major organizations through one of the most transformative technological shifts of our time: generative AI.
At GRUPO TX, a company recognized for its groundbreaking work with governments and private enterprises, Serra leads a team that helps organizations put AI into action. From automating everyday tasks to supporting critical decision-making, his work is about making powerful tools accessible and practical.
“The real opportunity,” Serra said, “is in how AI can speed up discovery in fields like medicine, physics, and mathematics. It’s like having a tool that can analyze information at superhuman speed, helping researchers see patterns and possibilities that might otherwise take decades. It has the potential to accelerate human progress in ways we’ve never seen before.”
“My biggest advice for anyone starting out in this field is to embrace curiosity. Technology evolves so fast that your education is really just beginning. Follow the people who are leading in the areas that inspire you, and don’t just study what they’re building – try to understand why. That mindset will keep you ahead of the curve.”

A View from Abroad
Eduardo takes full advantage of the outdoor opportunities that living in Milan, Italy, affords him.
Serra is now based in Milan, Italy, where he appreciates the city’s unique mix of old and new.
“One moment you’re walking past Roman ruins, the next you’re looking at an eco-friendly skyscraper,” he said.
For fun, he and his family head to the Alps, Lake Como, or even the French Riviera – adventures that keep him grounded while he’s working on the cutting edge of AI.
