Revolt and Revolution: Reaching for the Possible

From the philosophical point of view the passage from mythos to logos is based on the rationalization of sacrificational practices and the introduced by the author sacrificational theorem plays the crucial role in this threshold. In the scientific level of examination, in social and natural sciences, the problem of revolutionary changes is examined, taking the notion of exception as a guiding concept combined with the problem of sacrifice, in its various facets. In social sciences it is founded on the connection between ritual theory and sacrificational practices combined with the exceptional states that exist in revolts or revolutions. In the natural sciences, sacrificational theorem acts as the ‘nuclear reactor’ of the rationalized abstractive process, being the main cause for the emergence of new categories, having the form of the particular relations between theory- experiment-measurement process of every discipline. Key Words: Exception, emergency, sacrifice, categoriogenesis, ritual, sacrification theorem.

The problem of the Baconian difference between the collection of information and its handling is ... more The problem of the Baconian difference between the collection of information and its handling is examined within the construction of Bacon's Art of Transmission: a basic incommensurability is emerging between the collection according to Arts and the classification according to the different Bodies examined. This duality of sorting is passing to the duality concept of the domains of his ontological research, as Bacon is trying to construct an experimental science against any speculative considerations. Thus we are facing a dual ontology of materiality which is based on dual information. Baconian informatics is examined within the discussion of modern theoretic concepts and additive versus non-additive probability schemes that have hitherto introduced in Baconian studies. The logic of gesture non verbal communication is found to be determined by the mixing of Aristotelian natural deduction and the theory of categorical motives of recent research advances in Category Theory. Protocols and Schemes are examined in the game theoretic interaction with light rays and substances with mass. It is found that certain conditions of the topology of the beings which exchange gesture protocols pose certain conditions to the language and the gestures they use. This gesture Homotopy poses the inverse problem of finding the properties of directional topoi which orchestrate surrounding masses with boundary. Certain inequalities are satisfied if the species belong to the same planet or different planets. Aristotelian Astrolinguistics’s protocols are proven to be the more universal protocols for communication since they satisfy certain structural conditions of global homotopy types of gesture.

The process of free thinking through argumentation schemes, which gave modern scientific thought ... more The process of free thinking through argumentation schemes, which gave modern scientific thought the power of proof, truth and experimentation, begins with the Pre-Socratic philosophy. It is from this first period that Democritus and other Greek philosophers conceived the process of deduction which gives from certain premises, certain conclusions. This kind of transformation is conceived at the same time in the interaction pictures of the physical processes where first elements interact between themselves giving different results, according strict combinations, presenting thus, the hierarchy of the physical world. Aristotle gave a systematic presentation of this duality, describing ways of such interactive schemes in the logical level and in the natural world.  Through the Arabic Aristotelians, this trend of thought was classified, transformed, enhanced, became more rigorous, and held a philosophical status that gave humanity the scientific tools for the modern scientific method. The first part of this article presents the current status of the modern connection between argumentation schemes, Feynman diagrams, cobordism and nuclear interaction processes, which has begun from the early 1990’s. The second part examines the Greek-Arabic philosophical and scientific influence on this program and traces the elements of this tradition that are still alive today in order to promote scientific knowledge.

Let an arbitrary set W which is non-empty, and the simple set {0, 1}. The set {0, 1} W of all the functions S from W to {0, 1}, is a Stone space. We consider then the Robbins algebra with its elements as the elements of the above set W Theorem: Every Robbins algebra is isomorphic to the dual algebra of its associated Stone space

Furthermore, if the initial condition for the Robbins algebra equation is considered a proposition x which enters in an environment with propositions y, then the identity transformation, considered as a congruence process, needs a total 720 o turn (formal logic). But if the initial condition for the Robbins algebra equation is considered a proposition x which enters in an environment where both propositions y and their negations ¬y hold, then the identity transformation, considered as a congruence process, needs a total 540 o turn (intuitionistic logic). This is a more rational way of considering the problem with logics where some propositions and their negations might hold true at the same time; this is because of the more rational consideration of the identity principle as a process which needs always an environment in order to have meaning as a congruence process.

Completeness and incompleteness theorems are introduced for human groups and automata networks. In the second part, further research on categoriogenesis is examined within ritual conflicts, revealing the creation of new categories and not the rearrangement (as Hegel and Lukasz insisted) of the already existing categorical systems, as is shown from the history of philosophy.

The author examines the interdisciplinary genesis of the concept of the field of interactions, as... more The author examines the interdisciplinary genesis of the concept of the field of interactions, as a continuous legacy of the Victorian era. In natural sciences field theory emerges with the experimentation of Faraday and other physicists on electromagnetic phenomena and the elegant formulations of Maxwell: fields of force are the new foundation of the succeeding theories of all subsequent physical interactions discovered. In social dynamics arrangements the foundation of the parliamentary representation transforms through party system filtering the groups' and social classes' interactions, especially in Mill's contributions. In the computability domain of machinery invention, although Babbage is widely known as the first computer inventor, the author focuses in another option of his contribution, showing that Babbage introduces the connection between software engineering and political economy, in the production of surplus value. In the high culture sphere the concepts of criticism and the modern are examined by Arnold through his search for invariants in the creative-critical activity connection, introducing the 'domain of the modern'. The above interconnections are considered as a forerunner of the modern ritual dynamics of hyper-networks.

A correspondence between the Robbins algebra1 axioms and the three control structures of the Böhm... more A correspondence between the Robbins algebra1 axioms and the three control structures of the Böhm-Jacopini theorem2 is introduced. The associativity axiom of the Robbins algebra is related with the sequence structure of the Böhm-Jacopini theorem, the commutativity axiom with the decision structure, and the Robbins equation with the repetition structure. The author, unlike other approaches3, follows the Knuth objection4 on the non-reductive way of interpreting all control structures as while-loop reductions, something that should be reflected otherwise in a reduction of the three axioms of the Robbins algebra to a single axiom, with further consequences to the well known equivalence5 between the Boole algebra axioms, the Huntington axioms and the Robbins algebra axioms.

The author examines the status of dialectics and especially Kosik’s contribution on the connection between wholeness and the empirical, as has been stated from ancient Greek philosophy and on. Dialectics of Concrete is examined as a rigorous attempt of describing the continuous birth of the ‘sciences of the experience of mind ‘,as Kosik states it referring to the structure of Capital.

Consciousness is examined as an activity which develops within the realm of the connection between wholeness and the empirical, creating categorical concepts in an evolutionary way, and enriching them in the process of productive activity. It is examined whether categoriogennesis has a pre-linguistic character, and it’s manifestation in the passage from ancient rituals to experiments, both in natural and in social sciences. Among these rituals, the sacrificial ones play an important role in the creation of the economical categories, although the gift-exchange theory is been considered of secondary importance. Kosik’s critical epistemology is combined with the secularization theorem,1 which considers the existence of an isomorphism between theological and sociological concepts, and the sacrification theorem2 which states an evolutionary isomorphism between theories on sacrifice and philosophies of science. The problem of categoriogennesis3, is not considered as a naïve change of the system of categories (Hegel), but as a synchronous phenomenon of the human transformative activity taking account of Kosik’s dialectical conception of praxis.
