The Vermont State Craft Center program began in 1993 and evolved considerably over time. During the pandemic, the Standards Group, which is responsible for reviewing and approving applications for the VSCC program, became inactive and has not been reactivated to review applications due to lack of capacity and membership. We are in the process of evaluating how best to move forward due to multiple vacancies on that team. Applications to become a designated Gallery or Education Center are not being accepted at this time.
Historically, the VSCC program has cultivated a robust network of Vermont crafts organizations, businesses and partners that join with the State of Vermont to promote, encourage and support excellence and success in Vermont craft. The State of Vermont continues to collaborate with the crafts community to spotlight Vermont State Craft Centers. The
Vermont Department of Tourism and Marketing
within the
Agency of Commerce and Community Development
, continues to promote Vermont craftspeople statewide, along with increasing visits to the Vermont State Craft Centers.
