Office of the CHRO
The Office of the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) serves as a strategic partner
in advancing the University of Alaska’s mission by fostering a supportive and high-performing
work environment. This office provides essential administrative support to the CHRO
and collaborates closely with HR leadership  to ensure the delivery of comprehensive
human resources services across the university system.
Through strategic leadership and operational support, the Office of the CHRO plays
a critical role in shaping policies, driving initiatives, and ensuring compliance
with state and federal regulations. Our goal is to empower employees and leaders with
the tools, resources, and guidance necessary to thrive in a dynamic academic environment.

HR Support Services
HR Support Services oversees customer service and personnel processes.
The team is responsible for making sure UA HR policies and procedures for employee
job changes are followed and that correct data entry is completed so that our employees
are paid accurately. They work collaboratively with departments throughout the system
to identify solutions on complex job change issues and provide training and support
to our valuable HR Coordinators.

Labor and Employee Relations
The Labor and Employee Relations teams are distinct in their service scope and oversee
their areas of expertise, with a focus on enhancing retention, as well as professional
and team development. The labor team achieves this by collaborating with UA's represented
employees and playing a pivotal role in all contract negotiations. Both labor and
employee relations are responsible for conducting investigations, resolving disputes,
providing coaching, and implementing preventive measures. These teams work in tandem
with HR Business Partners to fulfill the needs of the campus. They play a crucial
role in nurturing collaborative partnerships among all UA employees, thereby cultivating
a robust and affirmative organizational culture.
