This photograph was taken 108 years ago this month, and shows student cadets from Saranac Lake High School marching on Broadway. The parade was held on April 6, 1918, the anniversary of the United States’ entry into World War I. As World War I ended in November of that year, most of these cadets likely never saw action. George F. Leis, Jr. is one of the young men pictured here; he went on to graduate SLHS in 1920.
