Ball on Friday, April 24, 2026. The event begins at 5:00 p.m. at

your outfit with your best sneakers for a night of music,
community, and celebration. Attendees will also have the chance

Experience the electrifying sound of the Shamisen Brothers,
KUNI-KEN, performing live direct from Japan on Tuesday, May 12 at
5:30 p.m. in the Bob & Barbara Ellis Auditorium, Building J, at
the Liberal Arts Campus. Known for their high-energy “shamisen
rock,” KUNI-KEN blends traditional Japanese instrumentation with
a modern edge, creating a performance that has taken the world by
storm. This event is free and open to all, and walk-ins are
welcome.

Workforce Education Grant Application Now Open – Apply by April 30
Long Beach City College Workforce Education is now accepting
grant applications from CTE faculty and staff to support
high-wage, high-demand programs that improve student outcomes.
Proposed projects may include curriculum development, equipment
purchases, professional development, work-based learning, and
outreach efforts. Applications require an online form,
workplan, budget, and Dean or Manager approval prior to
submission. Funding is available through the Strong Workforce
Program (SWP) Local and Perkins V.
Key dates include info sessions on March 26 and 27 at 12 p.m.,
Dean/Manager review due April 16, and the final deadline on April
30. Award notifications will be announced May 22.

Director Brad Pollak, designed to help students build confidence
and learn how to effectively tell their story during a job search

steps to building their personal story, how to respond to common
interview questions, and the three building blocks that shape the
story of their business. Whether preparing for employment or
entrepreneurship, this workshop will help students communicate
their experiences and strengths with confidence.

LBCC’s Commission on the Status of Women and Gender Equity (WAGE)
is working to create and implement initiatives that strengthen
the experience of staff, faculty, and the school community as a
whole, as it relates specifically to gender equity. As a part of
these efforts, LBCC has partnered with the Confluence Rising,
formerly known as CCEJ, a nonprofit organization whose mission is
to educate and empower youth and adults to lead change for equity
and justice in our communities.
