Research Interest
My undergraduate research group is focused on two broad areas of Chemistry: Bio-Inorganic Synthetic Chemistry and Computational/Theoretical Chemistry. My research team is involved in synthesizing and characterizing a library of Schiff-Base Ligands derived from amino acids and their transition metal Complexes. These ligands and their complexes could mimic biological molecules with a wide variety of applications both industrially and in pharmaceuticals. This is wide and ongoing research with a lot of applications in biological systems.
In Fall 2023, my lab started a “Green Chemistry” research. We synthesized Schiff-Base Ligands and Complexes using the “Microwave-Assisted Method”. This is the most important subdivisions of green chemistry where reactions are done under free or less solvent conditions, thereby reducing environmental pollution, low price and higher yields. (This is the addition)
We also collaborate with other computational chemists in modeling and determining the potential binding sites of our ligands to the metal center. We also collaborate in analyzing the different types of interactions in solid-state simple and complex metal hydrides. These hydrides have shown potential application as hydrogen storage materials.
We are open to collaboration with other researchers in terms of instrumentation in analyzing compounds and using different computational software packages. Please, free to contact me directly via my email address or phone number if you are interested in collaboration or for any questions.
