Admission requirements
JBU offers test-optional admission and considers all applications.
You don’t need an ACT or SAT score to apply
If you do not meet the requirements below, you may petition for admission. Your admissions counselor will guide you through the petition process if it's needed.
Admission requirements for first-time college students
Admission is offered to first-time-college students with at least a 2.0 high school GPA (on a 4.0 scale) or a GED.
Admission requirements for transfer students
Students with
6 to 24 hours of transferable college credit
are offered admission if they have a
2.5 cumulative GPA
(on a 4.0 scale).
Students with
25 to 84 hours of transferable college credit
are offered admission if they have a
2.0 cumulative GPA
(on a 4.0 scale).

Request official transcripts
If you’re applying as a first-time college student, work with your high school (secondary school) to provide JBU with an official transcript. High school transcripts should include at least six semesters of grades. Final official transcripts must be submitted upon completion of high school.
If you’re applying as a transfer student, work with colleges and universities you’ve attended to provide JBU with an official transcript.

You'll need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for federal financial aid, including federal student loans. It is also required for certain state scholarships, such as the Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship.

For transcripts from non-US institutions
, please use The Evaluations Company to send your transcript to JBU. The Evaluations Company will evaluate your transcript for a charge of around $150 USD. Translation services are available for an additional fee, though you may find more affordable translation services in the country of study.

Will my credit transfer?
What courses can I transfer to JBU? I have an associate degree; does that count toward JBU's core curriculum requirements? Does JBU offer credit for prior learning (CPL)? Get answers to these and other questions regarding the transfer of credit to JBU.
Transfer policies
Can I take courses as a non-degree-seeking student?
Yes, students wishing to enroll at the university without pursuing a degree should indicate this on the application form. Applicants may be asked to submit additional academic information, such as transcripts. Credit earned as a non-degree student may count toward a degree only after students reapply and are accepted for admission under regular student status. The reapplication process will include all relevant transcripts and other materials.
