since the beginning of the 19th century, from agriculture
to industry. However, frequent accidents raised awareness
to the need to monitor the machinery in order to avoid
the serious injuries and material damage which could
result from the explosion of a boiler.
Created in 1891, Industrial Circumscriptions were
responsible for this monitoring. Steam engine owners
avoided them whenever they could, and several conflicts
arose, whose processes are fundamental for industrial
Archaeology. The authors deal with one
of such process from 1931.
