NIH Institutional Training Program Requirements Update
Effective January 25, 2025, NIH mandates that faculty involved in training programs complete formal mentor training and periodic refreshers, as stated in NIH Notices NOT-OD-24-084 and NOT-OD-24-086.
Guidance on NSF Mentoring Requirements for New Proposals (Updated for 2024)
The National Science Foundation has introduced new guidelines to the Recipient Standards (Chapter IX) of the Proposal and Award Policies and Procedures Guide (PAPPG).
Faculty Mentoring Professional Development (FMPD)
Through this initiative, faculty can enhance their current mentoring practices by integrating evidence-based approaches to research mentoring and engaging in a platform with other faculty to address dilemmas.

DGE Faculty Award for Excellence in Graduate Student Mentoring
DGE seeks to honor outstanding full-time faculty who have demonstrated exemplary mentorship and commitment to students and postdoctoral success.
The Annual Progress Assessment consists of both a student self-appraisal and a written faculty appraisal which serves as an important tool to foster communication between faculty and students. This valuable tool strengthens the student-advisor relationship by encouraging clear communication of expectations and promoting accountability.

Are you a graduate student interested in developing a peer mentoring program within your department? We are happy to provide consultations with students on building a peer mentoring program that enables students to support each other through the graduate journey.
