Prefixing of interwiki links
[edit]Is there a consensus of whether interwiki-linked text should be prefixed with the interwiki prefix? The article discussing interwiki links does not seem to address this, and I would like to change that. Michael21107 (talk) 18:16, 3 April 2026 (UTC)
Pattern recognition for non-compliant usernames and page titles
[edit]Hello, en:WP:NOSALT suggests setting alarms for problematic page titles, instead of title blocks. Does anyone patrol new usernames and page titles using automated alarms, such as for user names that are non-compliant with the Global username policy? If not then maybe this would be a good application for some pattern recognition with AI. See also Title blacklist and Talk:Title blacklist. ↠Pine (✉) 04:51, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh: what would you suggest for next steps? ↠Pine (✉) 05:40, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
- I have no particular opinion on this. NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh 10:56, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
Translation request for Wiki for Sustainable Futures 2026
[edit]Greetings,
I'm writing to request that three pages for the Wiki for Sustainable Futures 2026 campaign be marked for translation:
- Wiki for Sustainable Futures 2026
- Template:Wiki for Sustainable Futures
- Wiki for Sustainable Futures 2026/Topic lists
To help with the process, I've used the TranslateTagger tool, so the necessary tags should already be in place. Thank you in advance for your help. Best, Paula (WDU) (talk) 01:08, 17 April 2026 (UTC)
- Done. For the record, though, all three pages needed substantial edits before being marked as TranslateTagger did not do a particularly good job. * Pppery * it has begun 01:44, 17 April 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you very much, @Pppery. I really appreciate your work on this, and I'm sorry that my intended help didn't work as I would have liked.
- I'm writing now to ask if you or another translation admin can add markup to the title "I'm an organizer" on the campaign main page. Thank you again. Best, Paula (WDU) (talk) 13:07, 20 April 2026 (UTC)
Necessary edit in user script
[edit]The user script WikiEditorEmoticons.js (which is advertised in Commons, see c:SMirC) needs an update due to the change to limited thumbnail sizes (phab:T414805), Where can I request such an edit? The edit itself should be fairly simple: In line 155 and line 187 22px- should be altered to (Update: I think 20px-40px- is better). — Speravir – 00:48, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
- No one can edit someone else's JavaScript or import over it. The most that an admin can do is delete. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 01:04, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
- Interface admins can do this! — Speravir – 01:26, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
- Wow, I just tested on a wiki where I have those rights and sure enough. I learned something new. Sorry for the misdirection. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 01:32, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
- No worries, I wasn’t upset. — Speravir – 01:40, 22 April 2026 (UTC)

- Strange, now the script works, again. Could this be related to what User:Ladsgroup wrote in phab:T423977#11843553 (I noticed this Phabricator task too late): “We will be switching the http status to 400 soon.” — Speravir – 02:38, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
- @Speravir it is now reverted intentionally but it doesn't mean it'll be fixed forever. Someone needs to fix it before it's blocked again (around tomorrow noon UTC). Amir (talk) 13:06, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
- Ideally, you should not try to depend on someone else's personal userscript, especially when they have left the project for years. You can always fork it to your own space. — xaosflux Talk 13:27, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
- I consider this forking and forking of forks far from ideally, and the maintenance needs more scripting knowledge then most users including me have (though I admit in this case the edit is simple, and also I could potentially add different smilie symbols). Xaosflux or Ladsgroup (you mentioned elsewhere you are a global interface admin), could one of you be so kind doing these small changes to the script? Or could it be even worth a gadget? But then in Meta or Commons? — Speravir – 23:23, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
- The problem with asking people to just fork a userscript/gadget and correct the problem there is this:
- You may not be the only user of the script – if you fork and fix problems or continue improving the script the other users don't get these changes
- They are not even made aware of a new fork being created of a script they use nor can it be seen on the script page which users may keep discovering (and this is especially the case if the old script is still functional somewhat but the new version is substantially better)

- If anyone is using someone else's personal userscript - you should be prepared for it to break or go away at anytime. — xaosflux Talk 19:04, 24 April 2026 (UTC)
