The Grand North American Migrations program will expose students, in the field, to some of the most spectacular animal migrations on the planet. We will visit two of the reserves where monarch butterflies spend the winter, where we will study the insect and its migration patterns. We will then get to witness Pacific humpback whales in their wintering waters, where they engage in their courtship and mating behaviors. We will also visit several sites where we hope to encounter neotropical migrant birds from North America, along with abundant resident wildlife. Students will be immersed in Mexican culture for the duration of the trip. All students will be required to keep a journal, which will be the basis of grade determination. This program regularly gets ample applicants and only select few are able to attend; therefore I am confident there is adequate demand for it.
