Why PageUp?
Our team is committed to finding the best way
to support faculty and staff. We've identified moving to the PageUp system as a way to streamline the overall hiring process and reduce duplicated efforts.
Changes and New Features
This new streamlined system will:
Integrate with Banner for position/organization numbers, budgeting information, etc.
Streamline the process between HR and the Office of Strategic Budgeting & Planning
Simplify the applicant experience
Have an u
pdated look and feel
Replace the former position management system
In the same system, job initiators and HR Liaisons will be able to:
Create, update, and maintain department position descriptions
Use existing position descriptions for job postings
Monitor open positions
Manage applicant pools
Schedule interviews using direct integration with their Microsoft Outlook calendars
This end-to-end solution provides several strategic improvements:
Process simplification – eliminates the need for a position maintenance form (PMF) and replaces the former position management system
Data/metrics accessible at the unit level, enabling tracking of time-to-fill and other metrics
Enhanced advertising model to help attract top talent
Increased efficiencies, including same-day job posting
Addresses compliance and recordkeeping gaps

. Beginning in 2024, the system will be available in a read-only state.
How will evergreen job postings be affected?
Expand
All evergreen job postings (also known as continuous recruitment) will need to be added into PageUp manually.
How will hiring procedures for administrative/professional (A/P) faculty be affected?
Expand
With the implementation of PageUp's recruitment module, all administrative/professional faculty hiring proposals will be created and offers extended through the Request Tracking System (RTS) – Faculty Hiring Proposal workflow (rts.gmu.edu). Please visit the
Office of the Provost’s Faculty Appointments
page for further information and instructions on how to create the hiring proposal.
Do wage and adjunct positions need a position description submitted for Classification and Compensation review on the position management side?
Expand
No, this is not required for wage or adjunct positions.
Does the job ad take exactly from the job description that is inputted in PageUp?
Expand
Only what is left in the job ad is visible, not necessarily the position description. However, one pulls data into the other, so most data will be the same. Any core requirement being used for evaluating the candidates should be included in the job ad.
Are bulleted lists preferred for job descriptions?
Expand
In order to maintain format continuity across job ads, bullet points are highly recommended and required in most scenarios, similar to how postings are formatted in eWork.
Can there be more than one person listed as Initiator or Coordinator (in case someone needs to be a backup)? If so, how many people can be listed?
Expand
Unfortunately, we cannot have more than one designated Initiator per a job card. Anyone assigned as an Initiator for the team will have Initiator access to any open job cards within their team; the only difference is that they won't receive any notifications from the system. If the department wishes to update the Initiator assigned to a job card, please reach out to
jobs@gmu.edu
We cannot have more than one designated Search Coordinator per a job card. Please note that Coordinators must be assigned to the job card to gain access; otherwise, they will not have Coordinator access for the job card. If the department wishes to update the Search Coordinator assigned to a job card, please reach out to
jobs@gmu.edu
Are Search Participants allowed to upload their own notes into the system, or does the Initiator or Coordinator need to do it?
Expand
This action is a required responsibility of the Search Coordinator or Initiator.
How are Search Participants notified about a job card they are assigned to / How do Search Participants gain access to applicants?
Expand
Once a job card goes through the final approval stage, Search Participants automatically gain access to the job card if they were listed in the Search Participants section. This also grants them access to the applicant pool. The Initiator/Search Coordinator is responsible for notifying Search Participants they have been added to a job card. We recommend this communication be sent as soon as possible to allow for timely completion of the confidentiality form, search training, and other items.
Please see the
Search Participant Email Template (docx)
for an example communication.
Are zip files allowed to be submitted in the documents section?
Expand
No. Acceptable file formats include .doc, .docx, .docm, .jpeg, .jpg, .pdf, .png, .txt, .rtf, .xls, .xlsm, and .xlsx.
Is there a way to export a candidate's information and screening question answers into Excel?
Expand
Candidate information can be pulled, but screening questions cannot be pulled at this time unless they are from the additional application questions document on our site.
What training is required for job card/recruitment Department Approvers, and how many approvers can there be per job card? Can Department Approvers also have Initiator access?
Expand
At this time, no training is required for job card Department Approvers. More tailored training may be available in the future. We want to ensure that access is only granted to those who truly need it. Department Approvers do need training to be an approver on the Position Description side. There can only be one designated Department Approver per job card. If you need to change the Department Approver listed, reach out to
jobs@gmu.edu
The Department Approver can gain access as an Initiator on both the PD and job card side, however, both would require training and submission of a request.
What job boards are automatically scraped to?
Expand
A list of all scraped sites can be found below and on the job card in the 'Advertising Details' section. Scraped sites are as follows:
HigherEdJobs
Chronicles of Higher Ed
Inside Higher Ed
Mitratech (and affiliated sites including Virginia Job Network)
Indeed
ZipRecruiter
FlexJobs
Monster
Adzuna
Recruit.net
Trovit
MyJobHelper
Zippia
Oodle
How can I add more advertising?
Expand
On the job card, please use the Note tab to add a note and list what additional external advertising is needed. We will reach out to Graystone during the Broadbean integration. Once Broadbean is integrated, initiators will be able to use the Broadbean feature for advertising (additional guidance is forthcoming).
