I hope I am not being disruptive here, but I wanted to ask about the Toki Pona wikipedia, but I do not know how to speak Toki Pona. My first question is do you have any page that is a list of words. One that could be linked to wikidata with the
en:List of Toki Pona words
page. I think this is a standard page all wikipedia projects have, so I apologize if it already exists elsewhere.

Immanuelle
toki
2025-11-28T23:20:53 (UTC)
o toki tawa ni
It technically doesn't matter what glyphs to use in a cartouche, for names. There's 4-ish fonts that automatically convert any capitalised word into a cartouche - it'll be easier to read a text if the cartouche stays the same throughout the text, which isn't what the fonts typically do (although it can be done by limiting what can go in the cartouche in the first place).
All that is to say, we don't necessarily have to worry about converting every name manually. Using one cartouche, consistently, can already work. And we could, then, adapt them for cartouches we want more specifically.
Also, this only works with properly tokiponised names. Names that have foreign characters might not mix well with the rest of the cartouche or not show up at all, depending on the font.

We have no written notability policy, like most Wikipedias. The informal pan-Wikipedia notability policy is something like

that's for the english wikipedia, we can have different notability guidelines to some extent
also that's not "several" years old it's 20 years old, and the main thing that changed since then wasn't the guidelines becoming looser (if anything i feel like they're stricter) but

I would prefer feedback from the community first. There's a few stylistic issues in this (uppercase letters; "nimi lon toki pona", which is not-incorrect but not I think how most people would phrase it), but also broader questions of if this is how we want to present this information, what non-ku-suli words (if any) should be listed, and whether this is something we want linking to the main namespace or the
nimi
namespace. Perhaps
jan Juwan
has thoughts.

giving my two cents, I would prefer to go with the Linku categories, similar to what sona pona does (see

And as for being more of a proper navbox. I did it this way since we do not have

you don't seem to have held off on it, judging by
Q137374997
and its children (toki pona words), whose existence is iffy at best
our "nimi" namespace is most equivalent to scots wikipedia's "define" namespace, which
WD:NEC
says is ineligible because it's pretty much wiktionary and wiktionary has its own crosslinking system
buuut admittedly it's one guy saying that, and the crosslinking system isn't there for non-wiktionaries currently, and even if there were it'd just link to the main page and not the appendix page, and idk if one can do classic interlanguage links across wikis (though one
could
do regular links),
that being said these items are probably gonna get removed by somepony at some point, i'm sorry to say ~

I did not take the nimi namespace as applying for this, since they are relatively unambiguous and not requiring comprehension and the main purpose is to connect the nimi items to the commons categories for their representations in sitelen pona and sitelen sitelen.
Also yes they are connected to english wiktionary. I am not sure how a nimi to toki pona wiktionary migration would work. But I think this was a useful task.

Cartouche syllables for sound symbols are in all caps. It works for all nimi pu and nimi ku suli except for the sitelen sitelen for ku, since I cannot find it, and the words listed as "nimi weka" in this template

The images are not visible / badly visible in dark-mode, this creates an accessibility issue.

is it possible to make the template rendering change based on dark mode vs light mode? It would probably be easiest to have it switch between a white vs black version of the embedded images.

I do not know of such a function, but using a white background can help with this, not forgetting to add white also around the symbol. OR a border in white around the symbol itself.
After typing this I researched and found this:
"For skeleton black and white images, it's possible to use the css "skin-invert-image" class, the colors will invert only in
dark mode
, as shown bellow:" -

I also found that
for example the image on the right does change with dark/light mode, so it may be a good reference to see how it can be achieved.

I now see that the mages in your post here are white and not black, i did not even see them before so it seems to work. maybe this should be forwarded to the tok.wiki team so they can do it for all such images used?

what do you want me to forward to them? I used the method that you suggested.

Well what you applied here on the post could help also with symbols like here on the left the symbol for "pu"
as it has the same issue in dark mode.
