Playgrounds Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m., Feb. 15 through April 30. Playgrounds Virginia State Parks are giant playgrounds for your family. Thirty parks offer fun playgrounds for children to climb, slide, swing and explore. The playgrounds vary by park and include colorful slides, swings, activity panels, elevated walkways, ladders and other obstacles to challenge your child and provide hours of outdoor fun. Pocahontas and Holliday Lake State Parks offer playgrounds right in the water, making for additional fun in the sun.
