Residential Compost Distribution Events
Residential Compost Distribution Events
Westchester County DEF distributes compost created at CompostED to residents of Westchester County through a series of community compost giveback events. In 2025, DEF has hosted 10 events and distributed 1,798 bags of compost to 899 residents!
Compost Distribution Events are back for 2026! DEF has 3 events planned for April 2026, see the event details and registration below! This project is partially funded under USDA CFWR agreement #2025-70510-44353.
Westchester County Government is also excited to offer the Spring 2026 Community Compost Bin and Rain Barrel Sale alongside the April 21 Compost Distribtion Event. Backyard Composting is an excellent way to reduce trash going to the waste-to-energy facility and make your own compost! Rain Barrels can help reduce water costs and provide a natural source of water for plants and gardens. Residents interested in purchasing a rain barrel and/or compost bin must purchase using the link below. This is a separate link from the Compost Distribution Event. To also recieve compost, residents must use the registration link below.
