Scheduling Wikimania 2021: Beyond Time and Space – Diff
Skip to content
Since
Wikimania 2021
will be taking place entirely online this year, we have no traditional limitations of time and space. We’re able to take into account the global perspective of the community and those who will take part at the Wikimania 2021 across the world.
The core organizing team designed the live portion of the program with time zone accessibility in mind, and included a variety of time zones in the scheduling of the event program.
Wikimania 2021 will be using
Coordinated Universal Time
(UTC) for scheduling. The program schedule will have rotating UTC time zone blocks over the five days of the event and will facilitate global participation beyond borders.
We want to facilitate participation while being mindful of balancing out work schedules, family commitments, or other life priorities. So participants can opt-in and out of sessions that are of interest.
The event starts with a 24-hour Hackathon on the 13th of August 2021 – ensuring this portion of the event is accessible to all participants wherever they may be.
The opening of the event will take place during the weekend of the 14th and 15th of August, and will kick off the official event program. There will be more live content during the weekend than during the weekdays. Multiple time zones have been considered in the event blocks as indicated in the scheduling table below (breaks are also important and have been incorporated).
