SBS Plan for Continuity of Business
The Secure Beef Supply (SBS) Plan has resources for cattle producers and industry partners for business continuity options in case foot and mouth disease (FMD) infects U.S. livestock. One way to limit the spread of this very contagious animal disease is to stop the movement of animals and animal products. Producers can start preparing today using the guidance in the SBS Plan to:
Develop
contingency plans (pdf)
for limited animal movement,
Encourage
contingency plans for haulers/transporters (pdf)
you work with,
Limit exposure to their herd through
enhanced biosecurity
Learn how to find early
signs of FMD
Request a

from State Officials for healthy animals going to harvest or another premises, and
Continue to supply safe and wholesome beef to consumers.
FMD is not a public health or food safety concern. Meat will still be safe to eat.
