The study investigated availability and utilization of digital reference resources by postgraduate students in university libraries in Benue State, Nigeria. Four (4) specific objectives with corresponding research questions guided the study and hypothesis was formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The study adopted a survey research design. The population of the study comprises nine (9) digital reference librarians and eight hundred and twenty six (826) postgraduate students in universities in Benue State. The sample size of 269 postgraduate students and all the 9 digital reference librarians were used for the study. The instrument for data collection was a self-developed structured questionnaire titled "Availability and Utilization of Digital Reference Resources Questionnaire" (AUDRRQ). Data collected was analyzed using Frequency Counts, Percentages, Means and Standard Deviation to answer the research questions and Chi-Square statistic to test the hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance. Findings of the study revealed that, the digital reference resources available in university libraries in Benue State include, Compact Disk Read only memory (CD-ROM), Electronic Journals (e-journal), Electronic Books (e-books), Electronic Thesis (e-thesis), Internet, Databases, printers, scanners, television, telephones, storage device like Flash Drive and human ware (Digital Reference Librarian) among others. The finding also revealed that postgraduate students significantly utilize the available digital reference resources to a high extent in university libraries in Benue State. Further, the finding revealed the challenges that hinder the utilization of digital reference resources in university libraries in Benue State include, lack of fund for purchasing electronic resources, inadequate/irregular power supply, lack of technical know-how, lack of preservation policy and high cost of maintenance of resources among others. The study concluded that, postgraduate students in universities in Benue State highly utilize the available digital reference resources. Finally, recommendations were made based on the findings of the study.

The study investigated the influence promotion and prompt salary payment on job performance of library personnel in university libraries in Nasarawa State. Two (2) specific objectives with corresponding research questions guided the study and two hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The study adopted a survey research design and was carried out in Nasarawa State, Nigeria. The population of the study was 150 library personnel in the University libraries in Nasarawa State which were made up 44 library personnel in federal university Lafia, 66 library personnel in Nasarawa State University Keffi and 40 library personnel in Bingham University Karu, Nasarawa State. The total of 150 library personnel in the universities were used. The instrument for data collection was a self-developed structured questionnaire. The questionnaire was subjected to face and content validation by three experts. To ensure internal consistency of the instrument, the instrument was trial tested on thirty (30) Library personnel in Benue State university library Makurdi and Francis Idachaba library, federal university of Agriculture Makurdi who were not part of the main study but considered to have similar characteristics with the subject under study. The reliability of the instrument was calculated using Cronbach Alpha method and a reliability coefficient of 0.87 was obtained. The data collected were analyzed using Means and Standard Deviation to answer the research questions and Chi-Square statistic to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. Findings of the study revealed that promotion and regular salary payment have influence on job performance of library personnel in university libraries in Nasarawa State. Conclusion and recommendations were made based on the findings of the study.

This study investigated the influence of Copyright Act, 2004 on the provision of information resources in academic law libraries in North Central Nigeria. Three (3) objectives with corresponding resaerch questions guided the study while hypothesis was formulated. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The study surveyed 303 respondents (comprising 13 staff (Law library staff} and 290 law students{500 level undergraduate law students). The sample was drawn across five(5) law libraries in universities in North Centra, Nigeria. Questionnaire was used as instrument for data collection for the study. Descriptive statistical tools such as tables, frequencies and percentages were employed for data presentation and analysis, while chi-square statistic was used for the test of hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance. Findings of the study revealed that selected law libraries in universities in North Central Nigeria are aware of the provisions of the Copyright Act, 2004. Findings also revealed that the copyright Act 2004 has significant perceived influence on the provision of information services in selected academic law libraries in universities in North Central, Nigeria. However, findings indicated that, there is partial observance and enforcement of the provisions of the Act in the law libraries. This largely is as a result of some of the challenges identified during the cause of the study. These challenges as indicated by the study include: lack of proper organization of right owners in various aspects of intellectual property industry, lack of legal education on implication of intellectual property, lack of professional specialization in the practice of intellectual property, globalization and technology, dynamic nature of intellectual property, poor judicial sympathy and difficulty in negotiating licensing agreement for online databases. The study finally, made recommendations based on the findings.

This study examined the influence of Copyright Act, 2004 on the provision of information resources in academic law libraries in North Central Nigeria. Many Nigerian graduates and non-graduates are unemployed in Nigerian society which has become a national problem that is threatening the security, unity, political and economic development of Nigeria, in effect, the situation has resulted to insurgency, tribal conflicts and fundamentalism among other social challenges which this paper believes that if undergraduates students in institutions of higher learning are educated along information literacy and entrepreneurship skills programmes, the situation could have been different. The paper has surveyed information literacy and entrepreneurship for employment in Nigeria and identified various information literacy skills for entrepreneurship and employment opportunities in Nigeria. There are many reasons for unemployment and under-employment, lack of information literacy skills have been identified as one of them. The paper therefore, reviewed the relevance of information literacy skills in the society as well as the need for acquisition of entrepreneurship skills, highlighting the relationship among information literacy, entrepreneurship and employment. The article exposed the challenges of acquiring information literacy skills for employment, in spite of challenges, the paper made cogent recommendations and drew its conclusion.

This Research work was designed to investigate the information needs of Cassava Farmers in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State. The Study adopted a survey research design. Questionnaire was used to collect data for the study, the study identified the information needs of Cassava Farmers, the sources available the them, the kinds of information, Cassava Farmers use to improve their yield, the means/sources Cassava Farmers use to get their information, problems of information dissemination to Cassava farmers and strategies to overcome problems. The study therefore recommended that the local government should be sending Agricultural Extension Workers to educate the rural farmers on agricultural matters; the local government should equally organize adult education programme for the rural farmers as this will enhance their information utilization capacity and community outreach programmes should equally be organized and used to disseminate information that would aid the socioeconomic , political, agricultural and general enlightenment of the rural farmers.

The study examined awareness and use of social media platforms for information dissemination by librarians in Benue State Schools of Nursing and Midwifery, Makurdi-Benue State, Nigeria. Four (4) objectives with corresponding research questions guided the study. The study adopted descriptive survey design. Questionnaire was the instrument used to collect data for the study. The population of the study comprised of 4 professional librarians in school of Nursing and 4 librarians in school of Midwifery library, Makurdi which gives a total population of 8 library staff for the study. A census of all librarians in the schools was carried out since the population was small and can conveniently be handled by the researcher. Data was collected and analyzed using frequency counts and mean scores to answer the research questions. The findings study revealed that, librarians in Benue State Schools of Nursing and Midwifery Makurdi are aware of social media platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and Blogs for information dissemination to a high extent. Findings of the study also revealed that, Facebook and WhatsApp are the type of social media platforms mostly utilized by librarians in Benue State Schools of Nursing and Midwifery, Makurdi for information dissemination. Also, the extent of utilization of Facebook by librarians for information dissemination is high extent. But there is low extent of use of social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Blogs as well as Pinterest for information dissemination by librarians in Schools of Nursing and Midwifery, Makurdi. However, findings further revealed that, lack of social media skills, poor support from ministry of health and school management, lack of internet access, unreliable power supply, inadequate training opportunities for SONM library staff, among others were the problems militating against effective use of social media platforms for information dissemination by librarians in Benue State Schools of Nursing and Midwifery, Makurdi. Finally, the study made recommendations based on the findings.
