Brewing Massachusetts: How Beer Shaped the Bay State
We are proud to introduce our most ambitious exhibit ever, titled “Brewing Massachusetts: How Beer Shaped the Bay State,” made possible by a grant from Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism (MOTT).Through rare artifacts, photographs, and documents, this exhibit will tell the story of
Massachusetts brewers from the Pilgrims to the present.
This exhibit will be held in a rebuilt Revolutionary era tavern and tickets will be $5. Come see it starting
May 30th
at
107 Old Main Street
in Deerfield at the Indian House Memorial.
To honor this revolutionary history, we are crafting a free historic statewide event, titled “Brewing the Revolution.” This scavenger hunt will bring participants to historic Revolutionary taverns and brewing sites across the state.
The Scavenger hunt will take place from
May 24th-June 27th, 2026
and is
open to everyone ages 13 and up, free to play, and participants can win a variety of prizes.

Coming back in 2026 - First opened 2025 Season
Pioneer Valley Picture Show
Memorial Hall Museum opened a  temporary exhibit which showcased the rich cinematic history of the Pioneer Valley. The exhibit spotlights over a century of movies filmed on location in our region and highlights the cast and crew members that have called the Pioneer Valley home. The exhibit features images and artifacts from over 100 years of local movie making and movie makers.
These included:
Costumes designed by Ruth E. Carter, Academy Award winner for both Black Panther movies
Filming equipment from the early career of Ken Burns
Original costumes from The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot used by Sam Elliott while filming on location in Western Mass
Highlight reel of Pioneer Valley movie history
We also hosted “The Pioneer Valley Picture Show Scavenger Hunt” from August 9th to September 14th, 2025. This mobile scavenger hunt brought players to movie-making sites throughout Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin Counties and asked them to solve challenges about movie stars from our region. Winners received free prizes.
The exhibit and the scavenger hunt were funded in part by Partridge-Zschau Insurance, BankESB, Three Sisters Sanctuary, Springfield Museums, Cinemark and Tower Cinemas.

Barbie - All Dolled Up
Come see our expansion of the “Barbie – All Dolled Up” exhibit. We designed “Barbie Collection Connections”  which highlights items from our collection and the Barbie’s they resemble.
From the private collection of Nancy Damour, 68 collector edition Barbies are on sparkling display. This collection features designers like Bob Mackie, Armani, and Oscar de la Renta and include celebrity Barbies like Diana Ross, Cher, Carol Burnett and more.

Green River Festival Exhibit
Its growing and as popular as ever – We are taking The Green River Festival Exhibit BACK to the Franklin County Fairground for the 2026 Green River Festival – June 19-21, 2026!. If you are attending this year, please stop by. Rock On!
Created in partnership with Signature Sounds Recordings, the exhibit in Memorial Hall Museum’s Music Gallery presents the 38-year history of the Green River Festival, from its humble beginnings as a small country fair to its evolution into New England’s premier music and arts festival.
It showcases the growth and impact of the Green River Festival over time through photographs, merchandise, videos, and music. Come see the exhibit through June 16th at Memorial Hall Museum, before it is moved to its final exhibit location at this year’s Green River Festival, June 21

Robert Strong Woodward - Courage and Peace
The show “Courage and Peace,” will feature 21 original works by our acclaimed Western Mass landscape artist. It will include several recently discovered and never-before-exhibited canvases and drawings, along with a number of the artist’s larger paintings. Do not miss this rare opportunity. This event is brought to you collectively by the Friends of Robert Strong Woodward organization, the Pocumtuck Valley Memorial Association with the aid and cooperation of the Woodward estate and this website.

A Tale of Two Fiddles
Our “Untitled” oil painting shown below was borrowed by The Metropolitan Museum of Art for the 2025 season, but it has made it way back to be viewed by our visitors. Come take a look!
By contrasting an historical depiction of Black performers to the lived experience of one contemporary Black musician and entrepreneur, we can see how perception and reality diverged from one another and left lasting impacts on the ways we view issues of race today.

Deerfield: Now and Then
In recognition of the Town of Deerfield’s 350
th
anniversary, this exhibit shows the town’s changes over time.  Historic photos from the PVMA collection of scenes throughout Deerfield have been recreated, with the help of students from Frontier Regional High School.  Each tells an individual story of transformation over time.  Taken together, they show a town developing and growing while preserving its past.
