Welcome to Housing & Residence Life!
Some call living on campus "the total college experience." We agree.
Living on campus provides students with greater, academic support, opportunities to develop new friendships and social engagement compared to commuting. With immediate access to classes, campus resources, and student activities, on-campus residents can save time, reduce travel costs, and fully immerse themselves in the college experience. Living on campus complements your academic experiences and will better prepare you for life after Marywood. Additionally, research shows that students who live on campus tend to have higher academic success and greater involvement in campus life.
All students must reside in University housing during their first two years of enrollment unless they are at least 21 years of age or are living with their parents/guardians in their primary family homes that are within a 45-mile radius of Marywood’s campus.
For students within the 35-45 mile radius, we strongly encourage exploring on-campus housing options to enhance their overall college experience. Housing and Residence Life is available to discuss the advantages and help students make the best decision for their academic and personal success.
Transitioning from living at home to living on campus can be both exciting and overwhelming, which is why we try our best to make residential living welcoming and comforting, providing a place for students to live and learn. With a variety of Housing styles, supportive and accessible staff, and resources that support your success, our campus strives to become your home away from home.
Why Live on Campus?
Convenience & Proximity
– Students have immediate access to classes, the library, dining locations, and campus resources, saving time on commuting.
Academic Support
– Living on campus fosters a strong academic environment with easy access to study lounges, faculty, and tutoring services. Students who live on campus tend to
complete more credit hours and have higher grade point averages.
Greater Social Engagement
– On-campus students are more likely to participate in clubs, events, and social activities, helping them build friendships and feel a greater sense of Pacer Pride.
Fun Atmosphere
Living on campus creates a vibrant and fun atmosphere where students can easily connect with friends, attend RA Programs and other on-campus events, and enjoy spontaneous activities, making college life more engaging and memorable.
Structured Environment
– Residence life provides a structured environment that allows students to navigate their independence while still having access to support systems such as their RAs & RD, Campus Safety, and other on-campus services that assist with student development.
More Time for Activities
– Without a daily commute, students have more time to dedicate to their academics, extracurriculars, athletics, internships, and part-time jobs on campus.
Increased Safety
– Campus housing is monitored 24/7 by Campus Safety and Residence Life staff and is equipped with security measures like key card access, emergency systems, and the OmniAlert system.
Higher Retention, Persistence, & Graduation Rates
– Research shows that students who live on campus often have higher academic success, maintain higher GPAs, and are more likely to complete their degree.
