Technical Clinics - Book Industry Communication Skip to content BIC membership gives free, easy access to our technical experts and like-minded people from other BIC member organisations across the book industry supply chain. One of the many ways in which you can very easily connect online is via our Technical Implementation Clinics. We host two technical clinics exclusively for our trade and library sector members: i) The Trade Technical Implementation Clinic (TIC) and ii) The  Libraries Technical Implementation Clinic (LTIC). Having these clinics predominantly online means we’re able to provide an agile real-time way of managing technical issues or queries raised by our members. Representatives from all BIC member organisations are invited to discuss and share queries and issues they may be experiencing against a number of areas for which the relevant Technical Implementation Clinic is responsible: Technical issues/queries may include (but won’t be limited to) questions relating to: EDI (Tradacoms/EDIFACT) Invoicing standards/requirements BIC Realtime (for Trade) BIC Realtime for Libraries ONIX implementation and related issues Industry Returns Initiative (IRI) SANs Libraries Communication Framework (LCF) RFID in Libraries and any other technical implementation issues pertaining to standards or best practices falling within BIC’s remit, but usually concerned primarily with transactional data/systems. How do they work? Trade Technical Implementation Clinic (TIC) The TIC Panel of experts currently meets in person twice a year with ad-hoc online meetings arranged when necessary. An email support group has been set up where issues can be raised and discussed by both Panel members and the wider BIC membership. Get involved If you are from a BIC member organisation and would like to be participate in the email group, please send an email to: BICTechnicalClinic+subscribe@groups.io BIC members only Please note that access to this email group is a BIC member privilege and so it is not available to non-member organisations. If you‘d like to find out more about joining BIC please contact us via info@bic.org.uk to discuss further. Libraries Implementation Clinic (LTIC) This clinic will be managed in a similar way to the Trade Clinic and will focus on the library sector. More information to follow soon. Escalation of issues to the relevant BIC committee(s) Should an issue require substantial and/or costly support, or the need for a wider BIC project is identified, the issue will be escalated to the appropriate committee by BIC’s Executive Director and/or technical consultant for further consideration.
