The Resurrection Project Announces Community Vision Becomes Reality at 18th and Peoria
CHICAGO, IL – April 1, 2026- The Resurrection Project (TRP), in partnership with Chicago Commons, is proud to announce a historical milestone for Pilsen and for the families who have long called this community home.
In partnership with the City of Chicago and the Department of Housing, TRP will develop at 18th Street and Peoria, bringing 76 affordable apartments for families and a new early childhood education center in partnership with Chicago Commons.
For decades, residents and community leaders have envisioned this site as a place that would serve families. This development reflects our continued commitment to ensuring families can live, grow, and create a stable future in the community they helped shape.
TRP would like to thank 25th Ward Alderperson Byron Sigcho-Lopez for championing this project and Mayor Johnson for his commitment to providing affordable housing for working families.
For years, the lot at 18th and Peoria stood vacant. Now, it will become classrooms and a place that serves the community’s families for generations to come.

Celebrating 35 Years of Impact
2025 marked a significant milestone for The Resurrection Project – 35 years of standing alongside our community to advance housing justice, economic justice, and immigrant justice. Throughout the year, we came together with our neighbors, partners, donors, and friends to celebrate our progress and dream about our future. In October, we hosted our 35th anniversary gala and raised a record-breaking $775,000.
