Overview
Lighter and Princess (Chinese title: 点燃我，温暖你, originally titled 打火机与公主裙) is a 2022 Chinese mainland youth urban romance drama. Directed by Liu Junjie and written by Zhou Yong, the series is adapted from the novel of the same name by Jinjiang Literature City author Twentine. Starring Chen Feiyu and Zhang Jingyi, it premiered exclusively on Youku in November 2022.
The story follows Zhu Yun (Zhang Jingyi), a programming freshman whose world is turned upside down by the arrival of the unruly programming genius Li Xun (Chen Feiyu). Starting from mutual dislike, they gradually come to understand each other and grow together. After facing numerous trials such as entrepreneurial failure and personal lows, they ultimately find their way to each other.
Plot
Zhu Yun is a university freshman with dreams in programming. Her world is completely overturned by the campus programming prodigy, Li Xun. On the surface, Li Xun appears to be a carefree rich second-generation heir, but in reality, he is a top-tier programming talent who earned his place at the prestigious university through his own abilities.
The two gradually grow closer on campus, forming a team to participate in programming competitions. However, as secrets from Li Xun's past begin to surface, an unexpected incident forces them apart. When they reunite years later, Li Xun has transformed from a spirited youth into a man burdened by a heavy past. Zhu Yun still chooses to stand by his side, and together they face life's difficulties and challenges.

The series is adapted from Twentine's novel of the same name published on Jinjiang Literature City. The original novel Lighter and Princess is divided into two parts: Wasteland Garden and Eternal Light, both receiving Douban Book ratings over 8.2 and accumulating a large fanbase. Director Liu Junjie retained the core elements of programming and entrepreneurship from the source material during adaptation, while also strengthening the portrayal of campus life and career growth.
The drama scored 7.7 on Douban, and its popularity index on Youku exceeded 10,000, making it one of the most popular youth urban dramas in late 2022. The on-screen chemistry between Chen Feiyu and Zhang Jingyi received widespread praise from viewers, considered the highlight of the series.
