A & E Riverfront Trail
This 1.2-mile paved greenway connects to 0.7-mile paved loop in Tuckaseege Park and 0.3-mile paved segment at the Municipal Complex. The greenway works its way along the picturesque Catawba River between the two trailheads. From the Municipal Complex trailhead, you can easily walk along Catawba Avenue sidewalks for 0.3-miles to downtown Mount Holly where there are shopping and dining options.

Avon-Catawba Creeks Greenway
This greenway is paved for its entire length of 4.5 miles, and much of it is lined by mature trees on both sides of the trail. The trail winds alongside Avon Creek and Catawba Creek with a few small bridges crossings along the way. Benches are placed throughout the greenway and usually provide good of the creek as well. There are also numerous informational plaques placed along the trail regarding common bird species that can be found in the area.
You can easily walk to the Schiele Museum of Natural History from this greenway along sidewalk for 0.5 miles where they showcase a variety of exhibits, a planetarium and a natural surface trail highlighting this area's history from the Native Americans to early European settlers.

Highland Rail Trail
The Highland Rail Trail is a ten foot wide, paved facility constructed along the historic Carolina and Northwestern Railway. This 2.1-mile urban trail passes through residential neighborhoods and industrial areas, linking downtown Gastonia with Sims Legion Park and beyond. The Carolina Thread Trail sign marks one entrance to the trail at the intersection of Broad Street and Long Avenue. From this point, the trail continues northwest past Sims Legion Park toward I-85. A tunnel takes users under Bulb Avenue and north to Long Creek. The Thread Trail designation ends there, but the greenway continues west and connects to Rankin Lake Park.

Highland Rail Trail Downtown Sidewalk Connection
This in-town route runs primarily along Second Avenue, turning north through the central business district to reach the Highland Rail Trail on Long Avenue. By using a portion of this route to link the Avon & Catawba Creeks Greenway to the rail trail, users can travel 6.2 miles, from Robinwood Road through downtown to Bulb Avenue, or vice versa. In the near future, the 0.6-mile Highland Branch Trail will extend these connections to Rankin Lake Park.
Note: As this downtown connection follows the roadway network, users should be cautious at street crossings and be conscious of motor vehicle traffic as they enjoy the route.

Kings Mountain to Town via Sidewalk
The sidewalk connects the Kings Mountain Gateway Trail to downtown Kings Mountain. Patriot Park is at the corner of Battleground Avenue and Gold Street. The newly upgraded park has an amphitheater with hillside and swing seating. There is a splash area, water fall and stream through the middle of the park. The trail continues past the historic theater, the Joy Performance Center also known as the Kings Mountain Little Theater to Beason Creek.

McAdenville Greenway Park
The McAdenville Greenway is a .8 mile paved trail that follows the banks of the South Fork of the Catawba River from downtown McAdenville to Lakeview Drive in McAdenville. Near the trailhead users will find a kayak launch, outdoor fitness area, and a sidewalk connecting to downtown McAdenville. The trail offers beautiful views of not only the South Fork River, but also numerous natural wetlands.

Mount Holly Linear Park Trail
This concrete trail with decorative brick accents.runs along a CSX active railroad ROW, separated by a decorative fence. A small segment of the trail runs south along S. Alexander Street and will eventually connect to the southern leg of the Catawba River Greenway. Strolling along the Linear Park Trail, the trail features direct connections to destination points such as the Grand Hall and Municipal Complex, the CaroMont Healthy Living Center, and the Catawba River Co-Op Food Market. These destinations support local farmers in the area by offering local produce and promoting the benefits of buying local.

Riverside Greenway
This segment of the Thread Trail winds along the bank of the South Fork River. The land for this trail was donated by Burlington. Walkers, runners, and bikers will enjoy exercising along a variety of surface types, including pavement, boardwalk, and community sidewalk. The trail ends at the Southern Railroad overpass where hikers can make the loop around a clearing and walk back to the trailhead.
