Sichuan Aba 5A Scenic Area, the Oriental Alps, the Queen of Shu Mountains, with the main peak Yaomei Feng at an elevation of 6,250 meters, is one of China's top ten famous mountaineering mountains.
Overview
Siguniang Mountain is located in Siguniangshan Town, Xiaojin County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. It is a famous peak in the northern section of the Hengduan Mountains.
Siguniang Mountain consists of four snow-capped peaks over 5,000 meters above sea level. The main peak, Yaomei Feng, stands at 6,250 meters, making it the second-highest peak in Sichuan Province (after Gongga Mountain at 7,556 meters). It is renowned as the "Queen of Sichuan's Mountains."
In 2024, the Siguniang Mountain Scenic Area was successfully designated as a National 5A-level Tourist Attraction. Siguniang Mountain is not only famous for its beautiful scenery but is also one of China's top ten mountaineering mountains, holding significant status in the mountaineering community.
Siguniang Mountain is known for its majestic and steep terrain, covered in ice and snow that gleams with a silvery light. The foothills are densely forested with lush green grass, and clear streams flow continuously, earning it the nickname "The Alps of the East."
Geography
Siguniang Mountain is situated on the eastern edge of the first topographic step, the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and belongs to the transitional zone between the second step, the Sichuan Basin, and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
There are as many as 85 snow-capped peaks exceeding 5,000 meters in altitude. The highest, Yaomei Feng at 6,250 meters, is the highest peak of the Qionglai Mountains.
The Siguniang Mountain Scenic Area comprises three valleys—Shuangqiao Gou, Changping Gou, and Haizi Gou—along with the main peak of Siguniang Mountain, each offering unique natural scenery.
