› Tribal Access Portal
The Tribal Access Portal (TAP) is an electronic system that provides limited background information of prospective applicants or current tribal employees to authorized tribal regulators. The information provides gaming tribes the ability to verify any job applicant’s past encounters and/or licensing history with other gaming tribes. Also, receipt of FBI fingerprint submissions by the tribes to NIGC can be verified after 24 hours, in a secure, web-based, user-friendly environment. Tribes with authorized access credentials can access the TAP at
. The TAP is available 24 hours, seven days a week. TAP does not provide the authorized user with access to the FBI CHRI results of a fingerprint-based search or any indication that FBI CHRI does or does not exist.
Using TAP
As soon as the tribe logs into TAPs with the proper credentials, submit a search request in the database by providing the applicant’s first name, last name, and social security number. Displayed within seconds will be: 1) the applicant’s name together with alias or aliases, if any; 2) a list of tribes that the applicant has some history with; 3) telephone and other contact information for those tribes.
TAP derives its information from the following sources: 1) FBI fingerprint submissions by the tribes; 2) Notice of Results (NOR) submissions by the tribes to the NIGC regions in compliance with CFR

Obtaining TAP Credentials
To obtain credentials and access TAP, an authorized tribal user will complete an online application by following the easy steps listed below:
1) Using the common Internet browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome), type the secure web address,
, or go to the main NIGC web page and type the address
. Look for the Tribal Access Portal (TAP) and click on the link.
2) Create an account by using the tribal user’s work email and follow the friendly user instructions on the secure website.
3) After completing an online application, an automatic email is sent to the user, and a copy of the acknowledgment of application is sent to the corresponding region. The region will verify the tribal user’s employment with the tribe.
4) Upon approval by the region, an automated approval email will be sent to the tribal user.
5) After the receipt of the approval by the tribal user, the tribal user will log in with their credentials and will be redirected to the “APPLICANT’S HISTORY RELATION WITH THE TRIBE” page.
6) In the “APPLICANT’S HISTORY RELATION WITH THE TRIBE” page, the tribal user can enter the first name, last name, and social security number of the prospective applicant, and a list of tribal names and contacts will appear below. Also, if there are known aliases or other names, the alias or another name will appear.
